After taking the effort to make profile you find out that you are not even able to send a message without paying for an expensive subscription! What a joke! Some spiritual values this sham of a company has.
This paid subscription model is the reason the website is as dead as can be which is a real shame as it could be something really worthwhile if it was accessible to everyone.
It sucks, don't waste your time! Well, it's not free, the profiles have no dates so they're not active and Dharma doesn't tell you when they were active at the last time, pretty smart, don't you think so. You look like an idiot who spends 2 to 3 hours to fill out their forms and answer their stupid question to send a smile to members they were active years ago, ha ha ha, they got you but at least you know now. I wasted hours to make my profile, :(

Thanks for the feedback. We now show a "recently active!" label in search results if the user has logged into the site in the last 30 days.
This functionality was added to the site on 3/15/18.
The site is under new management and we are doing our best to improve dharmaMatch every day. If you have additional feedback for us, I'd love to get in touch to hear more.

Just wanted to leave an update here.
Because of increased site traffic in late 2018, this policy was changed. We now show the "recently active!" label if a user has logged into the site in the last 7 days. That change went live on the site on Jan 29,2019.

This site claims to be free. It isn't. You can smile to someone for free but not e mail. That you have to pay for. I wasted my time filling out the profile then discovered that I can't e mail someone till they got my money... Bye Bye

EDIT: I will leave most of my original review below (as of Jan 2018) but I do see they have reached out on this review with information on changes and that is appreciated. So I will change my Star rating to average for the effort and specifics of the changes. I have not tried any sites in a few years though so I am unable to comment further at this time.

Dating sites are coming to an end and they know it. That's why there is no way to tell when someone has last been active for most of them. EHarmony actually removed theirs - what other possible reason would they do that? Dharma was a decent idea in trying to weed out the more shallow end of the pool, and at some point it probably worked, but its a ghost town now. And i live in a major US metropolitan area. I paid for one month - no big loss - and contacted a bunch of people. I understand not getting responses, but in a month my profile was only VIEWED 2 times. And neither of which were people i contacted. These sites may have once had good intentions, but...

Been a free member for years and have communicated several times with interesting gentlemen. Now after a few years I receive a delightful notice and cannot respond without signing up for the "gold level". Attempted to do so and was forced to sign up for a "verified by visa" service including creating a password for future visa purchases. My banking agency blocked the transaction. I can not locate a "dharma match" contact to resolve this issue and am pretty irritated by their lack of transparency and integrity.
