As/ the other reviews this app is terrible! What is even the point of having a parent account if the parent can't do anything you can't send a message privately you can't post you can't do anything so just leave it as the child login but they can't really do much either except for message the teacher privately.

Seesaw is an amazing app and unfortunately the school my son is in allows the teachers to pick their individual preferences I'm assuming his teacher picked this one because it's free... because it's absolutely garbage.

THIS WEBSITE IS HORRIBLE! I HAVE OVER 10 ACCOUNTS AND I CAN NEVER GET ON SO I HAVE TO MAKE A NEW ACCOUNT. BOTH FRUSTRATING FOR TEACHERS AND STUDENTS. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

This website forced me to have 1 star but I would give it 0 stars

Just why does my school even use this trash, I can't do anything on the iPad/iPhone version; a teacher posts a link under a post as a comment and I can't click on it, then WHY IS IT A LINK TO BEGIN WITH? It's not like website version is any better. I tried creating parent accounts to test if it works in different modes, and I found out that parent accounts CAN'T EVEN SEE THE COMMENT ITSELF. Edmodo is available for like what, a few good years and there still is a link problem in 2018? Simply put, Edmodo is utter garbage. Stay away and maybe you'll save yourself from the pain I (and probably many other victims of Edmodo) went through.

I hate it but I see what it was intended to be. Unfortunately it has missed the mark.

I am a student using Edmodo and it was not good. Soon, the same daily quiz would appear every day and would not be a challenge. Although I have more than two badges, it only says I have two. When you want to post, it says Cancel or a Send. That does not make any sense.

Edmodo is broken, sometimes when you try to post something it gets deleted, not by a teacher or anything, but by the website. Sometimes, when you try to put stuff in a folder it gets deleted. Also, as someone stating in a previously review, there is a serious dis balance with the spam. Someone can post 1000 times a day anything they want to post can be posted. (Example: inappropriate picture can be posted just fine).

I am an IT professional. Our school system started using this app and it makes dealing with homework and class work absolute hell. Let's just go back to pen and paper. Just because something is electronic doesn't mean it's better or more advanced!

Edmodo is described to be an effective learning tool, considering its capabilities of fast communication between teachers and students. However, this is not always the case, especially for someone like myself. In my school, the day is divided into seven periods of the day, each with a specific and different teacher. Edmodo doesn't allow a student to use 1 account for all their teacher's classes. Instead, it forces you to make a new one for every class. This is already a bad example of design and processing. Oh, don't worry, it gets worse! Since teachers all require different curriculum, it can be quite confusing having to create several accounts. At this point, you can't even immediately join, as Edmodo requires the teacher to validate your account, and let you into the "group". For teachers, this can be frustrating, as one can imagine having to wait for every single one of your students to join the group before starting to upload assignments. On the student's side, it is just as infuriating; if one student is missing work, and needs to join the classroom from a lack of having computer/cellphone access at home, they cannot do so until the teacher lets them join the group. Thus, coming to school the next day, the student will find themselves with a missing assignment and a poor grade, all because of a safety pre-caution not even seriously taken by nearly most of the teachers at the school. For the icing on the cake, if teachers are not active with their own accounts, and only passively update assignments on Edmodo, the system will automatically sweep; deleting BOTH the classroom and ALL of the student's accounts. Not only is this just absurd on some level, for what reason it'd be implemented, it's painstakingly a setback for the entire class. A big success for Edmodo tarnishing the advancement of education.
Perhaps this is all a bit over exaggerated, but coming from an AP student who's teachers require this, it's frustrating. My near-future essay will most likely be stained with tears on its cover.

Sincerely,

A flabbergasted and sleep-deprived student, who is now practically on an IV of coffee and stress because of this disaster

ISSUE: Edmodo Enables Misuse and Bullying

DISCUSSION: In a 48 hour period, my daughter's 4th grade class of 24 students posted nearly 2000 posts. There was cyber-bullying, threats, sexual comments and strong innuendos, false claims of ongoing burglaries and fires, and a student posted a graphic picture, and more... The Edmodo site is enabling this mostly unsupervised behavior. Edmodo allows unfiltered posting of pictures, media, web-links, and chat. There are no auto-filters, no smart scanners, etc. to find and filter web-sites, media postings, or text messages. Its obvious that a single teacher cannot properly monitor the great volume of chat that is sure to continue if allowed and enabled. The most a teacher can do, if they "catch" something wrong (though not likely out the nearly 1000 posts a day from a single class- many of which become hidden due to compression), the most they can do is try to fix things after the fact. Of the nearly 2000 posts that I spent 4+ hours reviewing, only 2, yes, 2 out of nearly 2000, or close to 1/10th of 1%, actually pertained to classwork or homework. This needs to be addressed and FIXED.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
For users 18 years and younger (i. E. Edmodo accounts for elementary, middle and high school- which is probably where 90%+ of Edmodo users are):
-Limit Chat: only allow a maximum of 5 posts per day (without this, it is unreasonable to expect adequate adult supervision)
-Keep it All Visible & Easy for Adults to Review: do not compress any discussions-- it should all be easily seen by parents and teachers
-Keep Graphic Pictures & Documents Off: do not allow the posting of documents or pictures (other than possibly submitting an assignment directly to a teacher)
-Filter It: incorporate a filter to disallow certain language and red flag inappropriate/bullying posts- and send a notice to the teacher and parent of such an event

Without these recommendations, Edmodo will continue to Enable Misuse and Bullying- providing an unsupervised arena for our children... Not to mention the early indoctrination of our children into embracing social media, as Edmodo has a Facebook feel to it.

These concerns were raised to Edmodo administrators over 6 months ago, and nothing has been fixed- other than they posted a parental permission form for schools to use that makes Edmodo sound like it's some great thing... In actuality, our children would probably be much better off if it didn't exist.

If you're a teacher, this website could be something to consider for your class. It's kind of like Facebook or something like that, but safer for students and teachers.
We used it last year in class a lot, and the teachers can post assignments or updates or make groups or anything like that.

My little brother uses this for school and he loves it! His teachers just post assignments there and he does them and the teacher grades them off the website! It's like a little school Facebook. Teachers, I recommend this site for your students.

Something has gone wrong with my edmodo page. We used to have two Year 6 pages but now one has disappeared and the other has gotten rid of all the comments that date back to last year.
