See the following Reddit link for more evidence of this website employing unethical tactics to sell you cheap Chinese products at an exaggerated mark up. They do not sell genuine Japanese chef knives; arguably, they do not sell high quality knives.

I feel compelled to share my deeply concerning experience with Santoku Knifes.UK, an online store that shamelessly poses as an authentic Japanese knife retailer. In reality, they engage in dropshipping, sourcing their products from AliExpress without any regard for authenticity or customer satisfaction. It is essential to expose their deceptive practices to protect unsuspecting customers from falling victim to their misleading tactics.

Upon discovering that the knives they offer are nothing more than cheap Chinese replicas, I promptly contacted Santoku Knifes.UK on August 4, demanding the immediate cancellation of my order. They responded quickly, assuring me that my concern would be escalated to upper management. On August 5, I received an email claiming that they would request a refund on my behalf. A glimmer of hope emerged, but it was short-lived.

It is worth noting that my bank, "Chime," recently introduced a feature that sends real-time notifications for refunds. However, I did not receive any such notification regarding my refund from Santoku Knifes.UK. This raised suspicions, but I initially disregarded it.

To my shock and dismay, on August 7 at 9:58 am, a notification arrived: "SantokuKnives declined - $441.00." This unauthorized international transaction was declined due to my proactive measure of disabling international transactions to protect myself from potential scams. I immediately contacted them, confronting them about the fraudulent charge originating solely from Santoku Knifes.UK.

Appalled by their audacious attempt to charge my card, I expressed my frustration by leaving a one-star review on August 7. However, instead of addressing the issue at hand, Santoku Knifes.UK conveniently chose to ignore my concerns and focus solely on their request to remove my review, as if that were the primary problem.

On August 8 at 12:18 am, I received a notification from my bank stating that the refund process had finally commenced. Astonishingly, a mere 18 minutes later, Santoku Knifes.UK replied, completely sidestepping my previous email confronting their unauthorized charge. Instead, they persisted with their request to remove my one-star review, demonstrating a lack of accountability and professionalism.

In an attempt to find a fair resolution that would benefit both parties and minimize further inconvenience, I proposed specific terms to Santoku Knifes.UK. These terms included a clear explanation for the unexplained charge, a satisfactory clarification regarding the lack of communication, and a gesture of goodwill in the form of their abalone knife set sent to me at no cost. Unfortunately, they outright denied my proposal.

Throughout our exchanges, I provided them with irrefutable proof of the charge they attempted to make, yet they refused to admit their fraudulent actions. It became evident that engaging further with a company that knowingly attempted to defraud me would only be a waste of time.

Ultimately, I did receive the refund on August 10, but the distress caused by Santoku Knifes.UK's deceptive practices, lack of transparency, and unprofessional conduct cannot be overlooked. I strongly caution potential customers against doing business with this store. There are reputable retailers out there who genuinely offer authentic Japanese knives and prioritize customer satisfaction over deceitful tactics.

Please consider my experience before making any purchases from Santoku Knifes.UK. Stay vigilant and protect yourself from falling prey to their deceptive practices.
