In my opinion as a long-time member, this site is largely the creation and the responsibility of a hard-working, creative, honorable, and ultra-honest systems administrator, who has the daunting task of managing the day to day operations of the technical aspects of a site with many useful and amazing features that I do not even fully use because of my limited tech savvy. The site is free with some limitations, but there have been extended- feature-memberships offered at reasonable fees. Of late, there has been friction caused by a small group of about five or six members who demand votes on what they want the sys admin to do for them and demand member access to the site's financial accounts. Wow! Try doing that on Facebook!
The Administrator plays hardships on the members looking for donations to operate the site. Those donations do not go towards benefiting the Shmoo community. Nor can any member of the community see an accounting for thousands of dollars worth of donated money. No accounting, constant lies, and mistrust for the owner of the site by the majority of members... And don't believe the Free speech advertisement. Say what the administrator doesn't like and contents are blocked from the world or deleted from an open members Forum.

On the technical side of things with that site, it is very glitchy. Numerous inconsistencies, lots of issues with settings, privacy, and notifications not working. Difficulties with phone usage, chat, and settings changing without the members knowledge.
On the managerial side of things with that site. Dismissive of members concerns and questions. Refusal to allow voting by members despite their funding of that site. Aggressiveness by the administration, vulgarity of language by the administration, censoring of blogs, forum, comments, posts from a site that claims free speech. This is a site that originally had over 800+ members. There was of 2 weeks ago, only around 12 active members, half of which are now gone. One can finger point all they want at other people all day long, but it is ultimately the mismanagement and treatment of members that has caused for the failure of that site to be anything more than what it is today.

This is a social networking website. Damn, everything on the goddamn internet is NOT about products and overpriced shipping!

The person that runs this site does very little to make the site run properly.
Has plenty of sob stories to get donations. When large donations are made, that money isn't accounted for or used to make the site better. Not even to implement request by majority of the users.
THE SITE IS NOT A NON PROFIT SITE AND TAXES ARE NOT PAID ON THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF DONATED FUNDS.
But this should not be surprising when the person running the site is a die hard Donald Trump fanatic.
Disagree totally with first reviewer. Contact details are there and you get to deal with real people. This site is run by volunteers and has way more features than the likes of facebook, twitter & blogster.
The site has a basic free membership level which is decent enough, access to higher level features is through a paid membership which is only $15 per year - cheap.
The site can appear complicated but has excellent help guides.
The site is big on free speech and privacy of member information - no big brother spying.

They tell people that if they want a website their donations will help to create the site, this is like saying give me money so I can create my business specially for you
