Rep Joanna was extremely helpful in sorting out our specific insurance needs, and suggesting an appropriate policy. She noted for the Detour policy, one that had the fine tuning of our needs, that it was underwritten by Nationwide, a company with whom I already have policies...and made me feel good about the choice. She also shared the Detour contact number with me for me to have some other questions answered that were not noted in the policy. Thank you Squaremouth!

When my charter cruise was canceled and the organizer offered no refund, I thought that was covered under "default". Silly me! Since the organizer was not insolvent and had not ceased operations, Seven Corners refused to pay and Squaremouth agreed. Bottom line, Squaremouth is not going to pass up those sweet commissions by going against the "insurers". So I threw good money after bad by buying insurance from them. They are polite, but useless.

Squaremouth is essentially a broker so there are a variety of companies and policies to choose from. I really like the filters so that instead of trying to look through 80 or 100 policies, I can narrow it down to those that have my specific needs. This is my 3rd or 4th time buying through Squaremouth. Haven't been disappointed yet. Actually had to file a claim one time and had no issues with the company I purchased through.

Easy, straightforward, simple, and at no cost! What could be better? I loved being able to quickly set up an account, and find it very helpful that I can quickly access my travelers policy from wherever I will be!

As a frequent international traveler, I always insure against medical expenses incurred outside of the U.S. I have used Squaremouth for many years and appreciate the seamlessness of the review and transactions process. I recommend the company for anyone needing travel insurance.

I always buy travel insurance on expedia when I book a trip and the main problem has always been the high price I would pay for travel insurance. Squaremouth has been able to consistently offer me the lowest price on travel insurance and for those of us who may have to cancel at the last minute for medical reasons it is almost a necessity to buy the insurance. I have yet to actually cancel a trip so I cannot speak to if they pay out but I can say they are the cheapest around.

We have used this insurance company before. We made a claim due to trip interruption and it was simple to do and we got a refund with no problems.

Tip for consumers:
Good cheap insurance. We used this company before and needed to make a claim. It was easy to make the claim and we got the full amount requested

We did not need to file a claim with our insurance company however, purchasing and sorting through companies was ridiculously easy on Squaremouth.com. Even called to confirm about a condition I thought was pre-existing but the representative informed me that my condition was outside of a period of time to look back, which saved me a few bucks on the policy and peace of mind. I was on SiteJabber to leave feedback for Delta, since we had a horrible in flight experience. I noticed that Squaremouth had low reviews, some based on some personal issues with maybe the CEO, and felt compelled to leave my experience which was a Stellar 5+. We do tend to justify spending our time sharing negative experiences, instead of positive ones - let's change that.

Squaremouth cannot be trusted. They sell AXA insurance, which has a 1.1 rating on trust pilot. I know why. AXA insurance is trying to pay me $600 for a verified $1800 loss, without any explanation. They are clearly trying to scam us. I don't know what a square mouth is, but it doesn't speak the truth. Stay away from this site. I should have researched them, because Squaremouth has a horrible reputation. They give AXA a 4.4 rating while, which cannot possibly be true. I am not adding a copy of my policy for privacy reasons, but this is my policy # *******

I've used Squaremouth twice now - one I did not have to file a claim, the other I did. They are an insurance broker, meaning you buy another provider's insurance (Seven Corners, Trawick, etc) from their recommendation or suggestion. Firstly, the entire travel insurance industry is very understaffed as of this writing June 2022. It will take a long time to get a response from anyone - think 4-8 weeks, if you have to file a claim. Now, they will take your money right away, of course, to insure your trip. Make very sure you go with a reputable company that has been around and has a lot of insurance writing under their belt. I would also check BBB (Better Business Bureau) to see how many complaints they have. Providers still respond to these complaints because they have to. The Trawick policy I used for my first trip, I didn't have to use, so I can't intelligently speak on how good they are, except that they seem heavily used and reputable. The second policy I bought was from Seven Corners. I do believe this was a legit company except that it took a long time for them to actually get to my complaint and respond to it. I had to file with the BBB after almost 4 weeks and then they started responding promptly. I did get paid out on a CFAR (cancel for any reason) for 75% of my trip, but you have to fill out the appropriate paperwork and take the time to get details on everything, including whether you got a credit for your cancellation or not. I would not use them again only because of the time it took to deal with everything. Squaremouth didn't add my policy on my account with them, so I have been unable to rate this company either. Expect extended hold times when dealing with Squaremouth. I will likely use another intermediary for future purchases because of this. If you want someone who will provide service *after* taking your money day 1, I would look elsewhere. Thanks for reading and happy travels.

Short review: IMG doesn't give clear explanations and takes forever to get back to you. Squaremouth initially talks a good game but in the end wouldn' t even respond any more to our queries. We will not be using either company for future travel insurance.

Long review: My wife and I are frequent travelers and routinely take out travel insurance for our trips. I have used squaremouth.com for several years and it identified IMG iTravelInsured as our best option for several trips. Of course, you don't know if your insurance is any good until you actually need it...

That takes us to a cruise from NJ to Iceland in Aug'22. My wife got COVID the last day of the cruise. So we were confined to our cabin and ushered off individually. (Celebrity Cruises was great in the way they handled it, by the way.) Since we couldn't fly home as scheduled, we had to stay in Iceland for a few days until we could get a new flight home. When we called the airlines they said the next flight with 2 open economy seats was 10 days out. So we booked biz class seats that were only 5 days out. We called IMG to verify we could do that and they said yes since it would save the food and lodging expenses for the extra days.

We filed a claim in Sep'22 with IMG iTravelInsured. We were asking for reimbursement for the additional biz class airfare, the extra days in Iceland, and two days of hotels back in the states that we had to cancel. In May'23, IMG reimbursed us for the 2 nights of hotels in the states. They reimbursed us for 1/2 of the hotel/food expenses in Iceland because only 1 of us had medical proof of COVID. They didn't reimburse us at all for the biz class tickets because we couldn't prove that no open flights existed with 2 economy seats available for 10 days. It didn't matter that we had called and gotten approval.

We contacted Squaremouth.com since they have a "zero complaints" policy. At first they seemed very helpful and got IMG to reassess our claim. (There was no change in their assessment.) But Squaremouth went unresponsive and we haven't received answers to our queries for a couple months now.

I'm going to keep this review very simple. If I purchase a travel policy and I'm unable to go on my trip. You're not going to give me a refund, but a credit. That has to be used within one year of the credit issue date. If my future/new trip is much less than my original trip. Which means my trip cost will be decreased. Which means my new policy will be much cheaper. I can not get my remaining funds back or use the rest of my credit towards a new policy...

I am one and done when using my credit. It's a SCAM! RUN!

Called for a quote. Needed to activate policy 24 hrs before trip and no one answered the phone on a Tuesday after calling and being on hold for 3 hrs during one call and 4 the next. No answer no call back nada. Don't use this company or trust them to insure your trip. They offer 24/7 support but no one answers ever!

I was attempting to purchase a policy for an upcoming trip and when I submitted, there was an error on their end and that someone would be reaching out to me. No one ever called me and when I reached out to the Customer service number to see what was going on, no answer. I attempted several more times with no luck. If I can't get through to them to purchase a policy, I can only imagine what it would be like if I actually had an emergency. Going with a much more reliable company that answered my call on the first try.

I purchased a policy for a 13 month term for a trip that was scheduled for over a year from now at a premium of approximately $1,200. Unfortunately due to personal reasons, it has become necessary to cancel my trip only only 4 months into my coverage. I called the company to cancel my policy and they said that there is no credit available for the unused 9 months of my policy. Of course, they are entitled to the pro-rata portion for the 4 months of coverage they provided, but it seems hugely unfair of them to keep the 9 months of premium where there is no coverage at all. This was never disclosed to me when I bought the policy and had I known so I never would have purchased it from them. It just seems incredibly unethical of them to charge me premium when there is no coverage at all. In addition, the policy the issued makes no mention of this cancellation provision. Very sneaky and just not right. Be very wary of these hidden and unfair premium practices!

I got sick before my flight... i therefore cancelled my airline ticket and received a FULL REFUND from the airline... went to TIN LEG for a refund too and they REFUSED to credit my credit card. They said my 14 day free cancellation expired. So I told them... they are STEALING MY MONEY... Cause my flight hasnt left yet... and im not on in it... So they are insuring NOTHING AND GETTING PAID TOR NOTHING AND STEALING MY MONEY... Beware of this company!

Called Squaremouth and asked for assistance, (Nationwide travel insurance not responding to my travel claim, over a mouth, no response.)

Spoke to Venus L. At Squaremouth. She told me Squaremouth does not have a Squaremouth Zero Complaint Guarantee. Then I read her below: Her response, we don't do that. Also she said there was no manager to speak with at Squaremouth
