ACT is a brokerage, not the actual shipping company.
I requested and received a quote for car shipping to Alaska. When I dropped car off at shipping dock, there were no ACT personnel present. No one to take payment, and no one to complete shipping papers. The clerk at the shipping company was very helpful and advised me of the previous complaints and issues with ACT.
When contacting ACT, I was told that I failed to complete shipping documents. I told them that there was no ACT rep there. The ACT REP ON THE PHONE BECAME THREATENING AND BORDERLINE VIOLENT. I informed them I did not want to do business with them and to return my car. The ACT personnel told me no, the car would be shipped whether I wanted to ship or return it. I had no choice in the matter. I called the shipping company direct and they told me that ACT has to authorize them to stop the shipment. ACT refused to return my car. Now Im told that I cannot get my car when it arrives unless agree to hold them harmless from any damage and sign a waiver. I contacted a local contract lawyer and she advised me to not talk with them until I inspect the car. ACT informed me I can not inspect the car until I sign their hold harmless waiver. They also informed me they will charge me $50 day for storage and dispose of car after 30 days.
This has turned into a nightmare. Don't make the same error I did. Deal directly with the shipping company and not a brokerage.
