I tried to order a $70 papasan chair on their website and the only shipping option was in home delivery for $169. Meaning they will unbox it and put the furniture together for you. I could see this being useful for some things, but for a papasan chair that requires zero assembly this is an outrageous and unnecessary charge. Especially with the pandemic, I do not want people entering my home unnecessarily.
When I tried to contact pier 1 to get this delivery option removed, I was unable to reach them at all. Their customer service phone numbers only work about 25% of the times and when I did get through I was put on hold for over an hour and then hung up on. I then tried their online chat, I was put in a queue of 300+ people and waited in the queue for 40+ minutes 4 separate times, every time I got to 5th in line in the queue, I was kicked out and told to try again, then placing me behind yet another 300+ people. I have tried sending them messages on Facebook and get no response.
