Scam.
I had a terrible experience with AFC home club. Despite paying for their services, they are not upfront about their coverage and leave out important details. When my AC broke down, they told me I could use my own contractor because they couldn't send someone out for a while. But when I got the contractor and estimate, they told me that I had to pay for the work upfront. Only then would they tell me how much they would cover under the warranty, which turned out to be $148.80 out of a total cost of $13,500. The require you to pay $75 to the contractor for an initial inspection. So add in the price of their warranty and they gave me about 1%. It's just laughable! Give me the refund of my membership at least!
The reason given was the age of the units. But they knew this in the beginning! They knew this when coverage was purchased and when the claim was opened! Why not disclose they can't cover it because of the age! I rather have gotten that answer. "We can't cover it." "No Instead "get it replaced and we will reimburse you but we won't have a figure on how much until after."
It's highly deceptive to not provide clear information on coverage before the customer makes a significant financial investment in repairs or installations.
It is worrying that this home warranty company appears to have a pattern of misleading their customers and failing to provide adequate coverage. This is a far cry from their promise of providing peace of mind for homeowners, and instead, they are causing additional stress and financial burden.
I strongly advise against using this company. Their lack of transparency and poor communication make them an unreliable partner. It's crucial to choose a company that is honest and upfront about their coverage and fees so that you can make informed decisions and avoid the disappointment and frustration of dealing with a dishonest provider.
