Some time ago, I received a LinkedIn message from a Writerbay recruiter named Ashley Willson. I passed the application process, and they requested a photo of my national ID. I was surprised, as these documents are confidential, and sending them to an essay mill is certainly concerning. However, I decided to try and sent them a photo of my passport. After that, they declined my application. I discovered that their recruiter, Ashley Willson, had been deleted from LinkedIn (screenshots are attached). I found numerous reports that Writerbay.com collects documents from people worldwide. Stay away from these scammers if you don't want to expose your private data.

Dear Cecilia,
Thank you for providing your review and we are sorry to hear your experience was not positive.
Firstly, it is important to mention that it is a standard procedure for different companies to ask for verification documents since we do care about security and privacy of personal data of our writers and applicants, and we work against fraudulent activity connected to buying/selling of accounts.
Secondly, it is highlighted in our Terms of Use that Support/Management can ask for additional documents upon your application's check:
5.5. Upon Activation of your Account, we may request additional information from you to verify your identity. Such information may include request to provide us with scanned copies or photos of your identification documents, last four digits of your credit/debit card or other identity and/or billing/payment information related documents.
Each and every potential applicant has to check Terms of Use, conditions and regulations stated on the website to make sure they are suitable for a person to follow before application submission.
Secondly, in case after a thorough check of your application and verification documents, the application was not accepted, it means that the document provided does not follow our requirements (you could provide a scanned copy of the document or a photo of an already expired document) and/or your document was altered which is a sign of a fraudulent activity.
Thirdly, after deletion of an application form we are not storing data or documents provided by applicants/writers and we do not use or share them with any third parties:
10.1. All the information received from the Writers and the Customers is kept in complete confidentiality and is not sold/shared with any third parties. Detailed information considering the privacy issues is available in the Privacy Policy at the Website.
What is more, as it is clearly visible on the provided screenshot of our representative's LinkedIn profile, the page is not public and you could not access it because you were not logged in to your personal account for some reason. In case you have any questions or concerns, you can contact us via manager@writerbay.com and we will be glad to discuss them with you.
