Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) has to assign an IP address to your device that its unique each time youre surfing the Web. On the other hand, your router has a private IP address that can be accessed only on private networks, and this address doesnt have to be unique. Because its not a direct access address, no one can access it outside your private network. However, private addresses cant connect to the Internet on their own; they actually connect to a network that is already connected to the Internet (ISP), and only then gain access to it.
