This is the VERY WORST choice you can make when getting an advantage Plan! I've had Humana Gold Choice for over 20 years. THAT PLAN HAS A LARGE OUT OF POKET Every month ON TOP OF THE MEDICARE. I thought I was chosing the best plan with the best care and I was willing to pay for it. In November, I had a bad fall down the stairs. I shattered my arm, broke my leg in 2 places also. I had surgery on my arm to rebuild it, they replaced my elbow and put lots if plates and screws along the long bone. Humana forced me out of the hospital into a rehab just a day or two after my surgery. I was in XTREME pain and couldn't possibly even move without help, let alone do any PT or OT. Humanas policy provides 100 days in a skilled nursing facility. What the policy doesn't tell you is that you don't actually get to use the 100 days. Humana decides when you can go home. They don't take any input from your therepusts or your doctor. They just decide you can go. They don't care if you are so unsafe at hone you are just going to fall again, their only thought is getting you out of the facility and off their books. Each day was costing ME $188.00 and it was costing them like $50 but they still can't stand to pay their share apparently and just kick you out. I needed help at home, I can't walk yet, I can't go to the bathroom, I can't go fix my food, I can't even get into and out if my bed. I have really bad dizzy spells and they don't care about that either. I am on day 45 and according to Humana, NO onee else, I am safe to go home, and if I fall over, oh well. I still can't bear any weight on my arm, so I can't use a walker I dont even k ow HOW I am going to get home. I can't get into and out of a car, I have to go up 5 steps to get into my residence and then down a flight of steps to my bed. Again, humana couldn't care less, they just want me gone from the facility. The facility says it ONLY Humana a d Kaiser that do this to oeople. Any other policy and I would have been able to keep doing Therrapy to get more mobile. Do NOT believe the lies Humana says on their website and the agents who call you to try to get you to enroll in one of their plans. They must be paid ( with members money) to lie!
