There are different aspects of this product, as advertised on Amazon, that are confusing based on the original photos and product information provided for the original item that I ordered.

1) The original cover made of polyester, which was pictured for the item I ordered, has been replaced with a photo of a completely different cover made of polypropylene (polyester is superior as an overall protection material).

2) The cover I ordered appeared to be a light green/grayish material in the photo on Amazon. The cover I received is dark charcoal gray in color. The photos of the cover that I uploaded with this review seem to show a light green/grayish color, but in reality the cover's color is truly dark charcoal gray, which I'm okay with because debris on the cover isn't easily seen.

3) According to Amazon, part number OC-444 is a semi-custom fitted cover for a 2015 Prius. However, the manufacturer, BDK Auto, indicates this cover is an extra large size that is 210" in length (this wasn't shown in the product content advertised by Amazon). My 2015 Prius Persona is 176 inches in length. However, a different or better fitting cover needs to be a bit longer in length, so part number OC-443, which is 190 inches in length, again per BDK Auto, may be the different or better fit. Nevertheless, the OC-444-XL1 shipped to me, while much longer in length, appears to cover My Prius more completely on the sides (although not completely to my liking) because of the extra material in the larger/longer cover. I'm pulling up and tucking in the extra material up under the bumpers and then a small amount into the wheel wells (see the material "flap" over at the rear of the car as shown in the attached photo), which is a tidy solution. I'm satisfied with the fit of this specific cover size on my specific Prius model.

4) At a retail price point of $83 ($92 with sales tax), this car cover's two grommets should have been covered with a protective sleeve or covering stitched over each grommet so that the grommet doesn't scratch the car's clear coat or paint (see photo). This is a significant product issue or defect for a car cover at this price point. I placed/glued a small cushioned pad on top of each grommet so that the car's clear coat or paint won't be scratched (I drilled a hole through the protective pad so that a tie down cord will fit through the protective pad).

UPDATE | 10. 12. 22: I contacted the licensee/distributor of this Motor Trend-branded product, BDK Auto, twice to ask why there was no protective sleeve or covering stitched over each grommet so that the grommet doesn't scratch the car's clear coat or paint. BDK Auto never replied to my multiple inquiries regarding this issue. Twice the customer service function simply told me to return the cover to Amazon.

5) The original product description stated that a soft material (not fleece) lined the inside of the cover. I've found that fleece lining dries up, hardens, and then "snows" all over the car's exterior after daily use in the outdoor sun for about five months or so. I won't pay extra for fleece lining unless the car is always parked or stored inside versus routinely being outdoors in direct sunlight. The lining inside the cover purchased is a type of clear lining that is barely or minimally soft, so the claim of "soft lining" may be dubious.

6) This cover is brand new, so I have no long-term baseline or actual feedback for rating water resistance, waterproof-ness, sun protection, or overall performance of the cover's material or built-in technologies. This type of cover has generally performed in an acceptable manner for about five to 12 months before it was thrown in the trash.

UPDATE | 10. 12. 22: heavy rain saturated the entire cover, which appeared to have minimal water resistance. The rainwater didn't completely soak through to the car body perhaps because of the liner inside the cover. However, the reverse side of the cover on the paint was entirely covered by a layer of dampness or moisture. That moisture covered the hood, windshield, top, rear windshield, and hatchback of the car. So, the cover is minimally water resistant and will let some moisture through and onto the car body, which disappoints me given the car's routine clean condition. After the rain, the cover completely dried itself out over several hours.

7) I'm keeping this car cover for daily outdoor use but am disappointed with the lack of fact-based information in the original product advertisement, no rational response from BDK Auto regarding the grommets, and then the subsequent swap-out of the original product photo and description content. I don't get the logic.

I've purchased/owned ready-made or standard fit car covers for over 20 years and am familiar with the different levels of quality offered by covers priced from $49.99 to $165.00. I've yet to find a ready-made cover in this price range that didn't fall apart within one year or less of outdoor use in southern California.

The first issue I noted is that the cover I received doesn't match the written or photo descriptions shown on the Costco site. There is no manufacturer name branded on the front of the cover (thankfully); there is no integrated bag to store the cover; the material on the top of the cover is a high sheen metallic silver from front to back; and the tie-down grommet isn't similar to the photo shown: it's more cheaply constructed. Costco should update all of the product information and photos for this item.

I didn't expect much from a $59.99 ready-made car cover and this model met my low expectations.

The primary issue with the size is that the length of the material on the side of the cover is too short, so the cover doesn't completely cover either side of the car and leaves them partially exposed to the elements.

The cover's ready-made size offerings may not fit a specific car model in a satisfactory manner. I knew this fact when I purchased this cover and the fit concern was validated.

The different materials used in the cover's construction are wafter thin and the overall weight of the cover is simply too light.

I noticed some wet moisture under the cover in different spots on the top of the car, which would have resulted from overnight moisture or morning dew. So, the claim of water resistance is questionable.

In light wind, the cover will inflate like a balloon and blow off the car. The elastic bands in the front and rear of the cover are minimal in length and generally have no elasticity, so the cover won't remain tucked under the front and rear of the car. A tie-down bungee cord is required to keep the cover on the car, which will flap up during a high wind event and allow debris to blow in under the cover. I found tree leaf debris that had settled all over my windshield while the cover was on the car and tied down with bungee cords. A heavier cover weight would preclude this issue.

I've purchased a number of ready-made car covers at this price point that were superior in quality and fit to this cover. I stopped paying over $100-plus for a cover because those purchases didn't guarantee a better quality product either.

This cover is better suited for indoor use on a car parked in a garage.

Update on September 18,2022: This car cover was used daily outdoors for a period of nearly six months. It was either parked in a fully-shaded or partially-shaded spot or mostly in direct sunlight. Depending on the weather conditions, and over a nearly six-month period, the cover routinely allowed overnight moisture to permeate through its material and puddle on the car's surface, which left outlines of moisture stains on the car's clear coat. The cover's material began to disintegrate in large spots and then tear at some seams at the five-month mark. It's going in the trash as soon as another car cover, which I ordered today, arrives in a week or so.

Gold Shield 5L - Car Cover for Toyota Prius 2015 Hatchback 4-Door

Retail paid: $134.99 (discounted from $149.99)

The car cover was not waterproof nor water resistant and failed immediately to repel moisture from coastal marine layer fog, rainwater, or water from parkway sprinklers.

Moisture found its way through the breathable surface of the cover and saturated the fleece lining underneath, which resulted in a sopping mess of a cover. Photos provide views of the outside surface and underside surface of cover, which are soaked with moisture.

I made a warranty claim and received a second cover with the same purported technology. This cover also failed regarding waterproof or water resistant technology.

I chose not to make a second warranty claim for a third cover.

Two poor quality products and each at a premium price. Company wouldn't refund the shipping cost for the warranty replacement cover.

Three wafer thin layers of purportedly unique weather defeating technology.

In moderate southern California weather, little rain, and indirect sunlight, this car cover began disintegrating and tearing in four months.

Terrible quality!
