I own a 1992 Ford Explorer which experienced a problem with the starter. I had called the Allstate Roadside assistance program requesting help to start my car and figure out what the problem was, as I had no idea. I was patched through to All-Out Roadside Assistance. When the person answered the phone he never mentioned his name but that he would be there in 15 minutes as he was nearby. The first time he did arrive as promised, and he was able to assist me in starting my vehicle. Afterwords he mentioned that my vehicle needed a new starter, which he was willing to replace for me for an agreed upon price of $60/hour for labor and I would provide the part. I said at that time that I would consider the offer and check with a couple other mechanics in the area that I had used before, and if I was unable to find a cheaper price I would call him back. I was unable to find a lower price in Fort Collins so I called him back a couple of hours later and told him that I wanted him to replace my starter. He said that he would be unable to do so on Thursday the 14th of July 2011, but that he would be back Friday morning at 6:30 AM to do the repair. I agreed upon that time and then reaffirmed the pre-agreed upon price of $60/hour for labor, he confirmed that was the price and that he would be there in the morning. I awoke the next morning around 6 AM and anxiously awaited his arrival as I had plans to go rafting later on in the morning with friends and we needed my vehicle to provide transportation up the canyon. At 6:45 AM he had not arrived so I proceeded to call him with no answer on his end. At about 7 AM I received a call back saying that the person that I had spoken with earlier overslept and wouldn't be coming out to do the repairs, but instead his step-father would be coming to do it. He showed up at 7:15 AM and apologized for being late as he is new to the area and his son, the owner of the business, whom I had been dealing with would not be coming out to do the repair. The step-father started with the repair and 45 minutes later completed the job and was cleaning up, I had mentioned that his son had told me and we had agreed upon a price of $60/hour, which should have been a bill totaling $45, but when he finished up he said that the total would be $85, a complete surprise to me, but since I was in a hurry to get on my rafting trip I paid the bill and continued on with my day. Upon returning from my trip later that day, I started up my car and immediately heard a whirling noise coming out from around the same area as the starter that had been replaced earlier that day. I passed it off as a "normal" noise of the car, since it is an older version. I let it pass for a day or two hoping that it would go away, but it didn't. It got worse on Sunday (today the 17th of July, 2011), so my first instinct was to call back All-Out Roadside Assistance and request that they come back to do another inspection on my vehicle as it seemed that they were the cause of new noise. He had mentioned that it wasn't his fault for the new noise, but rather that I had an "old car" and it was my fault. I insisted that he inspect it again and he told me that he would be at my house in 2 hours. Three hours later he wasn't there so I called him back and he ignored my call, so I left a message. Then 4 hours later after he had still not been by I called again, again to be ignored, and left a second message requesting that he inspect my vehicle. It has been 8 hours with no response at all and a poor attitude towards customer service and I am stuck with a broken vehicle.
