About Me

I am retired military. I spend a lot of my time cooking. I seldom eat out because when I find something I like I learn to cook it even better myself. I grow fruit trees which do okay. Strawberries and tomatoes live, but do not produce well in my soil here. I have a dog who learns quickly but sometimes forgets lessons learned. I might decide to forgo being on-line often in the future because of a bad experience with my ISP. My friends live close and/or are old timers who still write snail mail.

How I Can Help

I'll have to look through my bookmarks and find at least one site I can say something good about. Since my first review was negative.

The five star rating is in comparison to other mail order nurseries.
A couple years ago I began buying my first plants through mail order nurseries, and this was the very first. I bough a few hundred dollars worth of plants from them. I was not very impressed when they arrived, because they were smaller than the potted plants at local nurseries and still the same price.
I had an even lower opinion of One Green World when at least half of the plants I bought from them died within the first 6 months. I was mad. I wrote them letters, and they wrote back. Then nothing from them for about 2 months. Then out of the blue I got an email from them saying that they had decided to issue a partial refund (which they did).
I have since learned that the bare-root plants from all mail order nurseries are generally smaller and have a much lower survival rate (at least for me) than potted plants from local nurseries. Other mail order companies I complained to ignored me completely.
If One Green World has a variety you want that your local nursery doesn't, they are much better than some other mail order nurseries.

After some initial setup problems, for which customer service was no help, I registered a credit card with them and set my account on auto refill. Service was acceptable for a while. Then they charged me $270 for 3GB! That's six $45 charges in one day, and they only gave me 3GB. They eventually refunded five of those charges, but I spent much time trying to resolve the situation, and I was unjustly deprived of the use of $225 of my money at a critical time.

I still continued with their service until the last 3 GB I bought for $45 only lasted about a week. I know I didn't use any more than usual during that time. 3GB usually lasts me 2 to 3 months. They gave me some phooey delayed billing explanation, but that doesn't fly, because if that were the case why would it not be delayed again so that I would have approximately the same amount of time as usual before needing to refill?

This constitutes a pattern of fraud, and they would not remove my credit card. I had to have my credit card canceled and reissued to avoid further fraud from them. Avoid at all costs!
