I worked with an advisor from A Place for Mom at the beginning of looking for Memory Care for my mom. They did send my contact info to a bunch of places that were out of my price range, but it wasn't hard to stop the calls. I chose a place they did not refer to, and worked with a company the hospital recommended to me, called Oasis who were genuinely helpful. Because my situation involves a second step, which is now to get Mom to a memory care facility in my state, I chose to use Oasis again. However, I also do my own research. When I had a question about one of the places I found on my own, I landed on the phone with A Place for Mom without evening realizing it (lack of transparency). Despite my protests, they put me on the phone with an "advisor", saying they could answer my question about a particular care home. Instead, they tried to railroad me into working with them, even after I explained I was already working with Oasis. They were extremely pushy, and when it was clear that I wasn't going to get them what they wanted, they pretended to have helped me by sending a list of the places I had told them were on my list already! I am now signing the form Oasis gave me that enables me to remove my name and my mom's name and info from their contact list. I would recommend to avoid A Place for Mom.
