The review is nothing derogatory as far as the personalities of the people working there, and I certainly am not calling into question the expertise of the optometrist, but this review is of their BUSINESS practice(s).
While waiting in the room for the actual exam, the employee who had escorted me to the room asked for my glasses so they could read the prescription the lens. Well, I'm a blue collar worker and my glasses stay dirty a good bit, BUT when she returned with them to the room before the doctor came in, they didn't even take the few MOMENTS to clean the lens... very poor IMO>
Also, my current frames have the nose pads, which as you know, become "cloudy" and a bit "yellowed" over time. Here again, they COULD have said, "We went ahead and changed out your nose pads... they were gettting a bit worn and old looking", right? Seriously... what's the cost... PENNIES maybe? Nope... no measure of customer service here either... STRIKE 2.
Well upon completion of the exam, the doctor walked me out to So&So and said, "She'll take care of you from here" as he handed her my folder and gave her a 15 second overview as far as my prescription, and SHE is the one charged to "sell" the patient now that he was done with the exam.
She didn't KNOW that they didn't carry Varilux Physio after I told her that that is the only lens I would have in my glasses(?)... either way, not good. She continued to tell me the lens they carry was good, and I am not calling that into question, but I truly believe she knew FULLY WELL they didn't carry Varilux Physio.
Any brick/mortar shop is WAAAAAAAAAAY out of line with their pricing, on not only FILLING prescriptions, but also their frame prices. No disrespect... just the truth of the matter. She couldn't locate pricing for what I needed (because they don't sell it). She said "AROUND" $800 for what she thought was their comparable product. I'm not surprised, but when you can purchase what I want/need elsewhere for LESS than HALF of what they want to charge, would I not be foolish for purchasing from them? This is NO BRAINER territory here folks. Again, no disrespect, because from what I've observed, ALL brick/mortar shops charge the same astronomical prices on e/thing.
But I thought their approach went out years ago as far as turning me over to s/one after the exam... I guess not. It's the same kind of approach car salespeople might use, or time-share folks, or club membership opportunities, etc where they hand you off to the "closer" or manager to get the deal.
