Looking for a way to resell clothes, I turned to Thredup instead of my usual local shops. They charge a premium for returns of unaccepted clothes and for 1 month turnarounds instead of 3+ month turnarounds. Since the clothes I was selling were spring appropriate and I didn't want to delay an extra 3+ months I added the rush fee.
Only three of eight accepted items were sold by the time limit. As a result I now owe Thredup $30. I would have been better off donating these clothes. What's worse, the items that didn't sell are still sitting on their site without any promise of money back to me, the clothing owner. The process for reclaiming unsold items (adding them to your cart by the time limit) does not work. Items just show up in your cart at the full price.
Lastly, Thredup's customer service is non existent. There is a chatbot that filters you to FAQs, an email inbox that never results in a reply, and a phone number that goes to a voicemail. I've been trying to get in touch during business hours for over two weeks.
Bottom line, I do not recommend Thredup to any serious sellers. Stick with other sites or your local shops. If you do send your items in, accept it's just a donation and might even put you in the hole financially for doing this good deed.
