How lucky are we in Baltimore to have such a great Greek restaurant serving up authentic Greek specialties since 1977! I think I have been coming here for over 30 years and have never been disappointed. The restaurant is not large – two rooms with tables for 2 and 4. They do not take reservations. It is brightly painted with scenes of Greece that only add to the charm of the restaurant. Tammy, our server, has been there for over 20 years, and she has mastered the art of taking care of her customers.

We started off with the Kalamari, which immediately transported me back to Italy. It was a generous portion of calamari - lightly breaded, fried to perfection, and served with marinara sauce. We were off to a great start. Our friends ordered two bowls of the Avgolemono soup. It was piping hot and delicious.

My husband ordered the Souvlaki Platter with one steak skewer and one lamb skewer with roasted potatoes and vegetables. I had the Pastitsio, which was baked ziti layered with meat sauce and topped with creamy bechamel and parmesan. Oh my, I was in heaven. Both were served with a Greek salad. They make their own Greek salad dressing, and it is beyond good. You actually can buy a bottle of their dressing and keep bringing it back for refills which is what we do. Our friends ordered Grilled Chicken and Steak Souvlaki skewers as well as a side Greek salad and an order of roasted potatoes. Everything came with pita wedges. The portions were so generous that we have enough for lunch today. All of our dishes were freshly prepared using quality ingredients. We really liked the fact that the restaurant is BYOB with a $2.50 per person charge. They are now also taking credit cards. Treat yourself and come to Samos for great service and food!

My husband attended a meeting where they served a Pizza Sauce pizza, and he came home raving about it. We were pleased to find their restaurant close to our home. So, we decided to give them a try. He called in his order for a 14" large (6 slices) CBR pizza. I am very particular about my pizzas after having lived in Italy, and I am somewhat of a purist when it comes to toppings. The CBR pizza was topped with creamy ranch dressing, marinated grilled chicken, lots of crispy smoked bacon with a hint of garlic, and topped with mozzarella. Oh my, the crust was super thin and the taste was amazing! He was right, this pizza was beyond delicious. Check out this restaurant – they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu is quite extensive – something for everyone. We appreciate the fact that they offer a discount to active duty and retired military. They are a BYOB as well. Note: if you pay by credit card, they add 3% to the bill.

Our dear friends invited to treat us to dinner at the Silver Spring Mining Company to try their Sour Beef and Dumplings. We met them at 4:00 PM for an early dinner, and because we wanted a quiet area to sit we ate in the bar. Surprisingly, it was very quiet. Amanda, our server, came right over and took our drink orders. She was upbeat, welcoming and friendly. Our friends said we should order the ½ portion of Sour Beef with the extra dumpling in place of the Cole slaw. So, that is what we all ordered. They were right - the Sour Beef and Dumplings were delicious. The sauce just had the right amount of tanginess, and the dumplings were dense and fluffy at the same time.

Amanda's shift was over, and she kindly told us she would be leaving, and that Ryan would be taking over. Wow, what a difference in service! Amanda was at the top of her game, and Ryan could have cared less. When our host asked for the dessert menu, Ryan told him there was none and proceeded to tell him what the desserts were. Our friend said he saw a dessert menu on the main menu and asked him to go get the menu. Of course, the desserts are listed on the menu. Ryan said he knew that, but did not feel like walking back to get one for us to see. We were all flabbergasted – how lazy can one person be who just came on duty? We ordered the Oreo Brownie Sundae and the Rice Pudding. Both desserts were decadent. For as good as our beginning was, the ending was soured by Ryan.

We were meeting friends in Emmitsburg, MD who were coming from New York (and we were coming from Baltimore), and we decided to go to Gettysburg for a late lunch. We rely on reviews for guidance and always look for the number one restaurant in any city we visit. We hit the jackpot with Food 101. We had a party of 6. We arrived at 4:30 PM, and the restaurant was empty at that time; however, it filled up quickly. We were warmly greeted and seated at a table for 6. Jeff, our sever, delivered great service.

Our compliments to the Chef. The food is just sooo good. You could taste fresh, high-quality ingredients in every dish that came out of the kitchen - and the care that went into them. Our lunches were wonderful. We enjoyed the Wild Mushroom White Pizza, Apple Cheddar Chicken Sandwich, La Cubana, Club 101, and 2 Chicken Avocado Sandwiches. One in our party ordered the Cauliflower 101, which were tempura battered pieces of cauliflower with sesame seeds in a sweet & sour sauce. He shared it with all of us – what an interesting and delicious dish with just a little kick to it. They only had 4 desserts left, and we took them all: – a Chocolate Torte, Ricotta Cake, and 2 Cheesecakes. The perfect sweet endings to our sumptuous meals. What was also special is that the restaurant is BYOB, which we really like! Everyone was so pleased that I chose Food 101 for our lunch. Thank you for making this a home run!

What can we say? I took my daughter and two grand-daughters to the Charm City Buffet mainly because of the excellent reviews that I read. It has changed hands and the new owners have really brought it back to life. The lunch price is $11.99 per person and $10.69 for seniors from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The dinner price is $16.99 per person and $14.99 for seniors. Drinks are $2.79. The restaurant is open and super clean. They had 5 different soups. There is a hibachi grill, where you can select your own ingredients. They offered about ten different sushi items. They offer all kinds of Chinese, American and Asian foods. They have rows and rows of freshly prepared food. They say they have over 100 items for your enjoyment. They cover everything from soup to nuts. There was something for everyone.

I liked the buffet so much I wanted to take my husband and some friends. We came for lunch on a Friday. The restaurant was filling up when we arrived at noon. My husband and our friends were quite impressed by the variety of foods that was offered. Even if you do not like Asian and Chinese food, there is an abundance of American food to choose from – fried chicken, BBQ ribs, mac and cheese, French fries, and more. I especially liked the variety of freshly prepared sushi. What was odd was that they had 4 different kinds of soup, but they did not have Wonton Soup. I really wish they would add that to the soup menu. When you are looking at the food, the name of item is above it. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. You will not be disappointed here.

Ask us how excited we were to see that the former owners of another Italian restaurant in Federal Hill had opened a new restaurant called "Tre Fratelli" (Three Brothers)! We immediately called and made a reservation for dinner. We were warmly welcomed by Pedro and introduced to his brothers, Elmer and Julio. The restaurant is bright and open. They have seating for about 25, so be sure to make a reservation. It is a BYOB with no corkage fee, which we love. They are open for lunch and dinner. The menu is extensive and includes Appetizers, Chicken Wings, Soups, Salads, Pizzas, Sandwiches, Chicken Entrees, Traditional Pasta and Seafood Entrees, Sides, Kids Menu, Drinks, and Desserts. So you see, they have it all – they offer Italian and American food.

Miguel, our server, was friendly and attentive. He immediately brought us hot rolls and butter along with water and wine glasses. My husband had the Chicken Francese which is chicken breast sauteed in a light lemon butter white wine sauce over linguine. There were 3 nice size pieces of chicken breast in a delectable sauce. I decided to try something very new to me, Chicken Toscana, which was 3 sauteed chicken breast with onions, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach, bacon in a white wine cream sauce, and served over linguini. I could not finish mine, so I have lunch for today. We were both thrilled with our dinners. They were cooked fresh and delicious.

Congratulations! We wish you much success with your new restaurant.

My husband and I went to use a certificate for The Gourmet at Kenilworth.
When the server came over, I told him I had seen Fish and Chips on their website, but I could not seem to locate it on the menu. He simply took the menu, pointed to the left bottom corner, said it was there, and it was $17.00 - so we ordered two.
Imagine our surprise when the server told us that the restaurant denied the certificate because we did not order an entree. I was shocked that because Fish and Chips at $17.00 was not listed under Entree but Light Fare, they would not honor the certificate. I am sorry, I think paying $17.00 is an entree price. I agree that I missed For Entrée Only, but I thought we were ordering an entree

When we sent a message to Local Flavor, the denied our request for a refund or another certificate to use somewhere else. I wrote again and this was their response:

"While we hear your frustration understand this information (For Entrée's Only) is not only part of the certificate language that you failed to read it is part of the fine print language on the deal before even purchasing as well.

We understand that You feel "Fish and Chips' Should be an entree however it is indeed a light Fare in this establishment and we have no say over that!" While we are sorry to see you go we are happy to obliged an account closure if you indeed no longer want this account." So much for customer service.

Needless to say, I have closed my account at Local Flavor.
