I thought I'd save a few dollars by buying and installing my own battery replacement. It was difficult to find a match, but I did find one on CanadianBatteries.com, great! Ordered, it was delivered in a week and then I set to install it. Removing the old one was sticky, but it came out without a problem. I installed the new one with the help of a great YouTube video, and I was very happy with the installation. No power. Deadsville. Ok, let it charge? No go. Crap. Called a certified Apple repair shop and they investigated the problem. It turns out that the battery is causing a short circuit on the 3.3 V rail. They installed the battery into their test unit with the same problem. So now their logic board needs replacing, as well. Now it'll be $650 to install a proper Apple battery and a new logic board. A faulty battery is the culprit. I have not taken up this issue with CanadianBatteries.com, but I will. Beware of third-party Chinese manufactured batteries. The risk is not worth it.
