I bought a dining room table called Airport table. It cost €1900. It is described on their website as being quote:
Topped with a frosted serigraphed tempered glass, this piece provides the best of both worlds when it comes to both beauty and durability.
Within weeks of using the table I began to notice scratches on the surface which, because the glass is backed by a white film, reflect shadows onto this background and are therefore extremely visible.
When I called ezliving I was advised to write to the company's customer care department which I did. I was told by then that these scratches would be considered fair wear and tear and advised I shouldn't place metal objects on the surface such as keys.
I pointed out this is a dining table therefore the only metal objects placed thereon would be metal cutlery! I drew their attention to the manufacturers recommended care instructions. Nowhere does it advise not to place metal objects, or in fact other, on the table. I wrote several times back and forth with no satisfaction. I was then told to claim through my insurance.
We had been advised when we purchased the table at ezliving in Wexford town, that if we were to purchase their insurance policy for an additional €199 our table would be covered for every eventuality.
I contacted the insurance company Guardsman and they sent an assessor who reported the damage did not occur from a 'single incident' and therefore is not covered under this policy. They advised I go back to ezliving and request that they address the matter with the manufacturer.
My table is now 20 months old and covered in scratches although I look after it like a baby. I keep a cloth on it except when I want to use it without.
I feel both the product and the after service we received from ezliving has been way way below standard. We had been good customers of the company having bought a great number of furniture items from them over the years but this has soured my trust completely. If I could afford to i would get rid of the table. So disappointed.
