I found this company called Real Solutions 3 through Angi's Home Advisor app after placing an advertisement for a service to test my place out for a painting project I want to have done soon. Their agent, Mr. Santana, calls me and we schedule an appointment for early the next morning.

Next day comes, the guy is a no-show. I really should have left it at that and left. Instead, I sent out a text message to find out where he is. He responds and eventually shows up an hour late. He takes a couple samples of the walls and one from the HVAC.

This was unusual to me that he skipped past taking samples from walls from each room. He only took from the kitchen and bedroom, but not the closet, bathroom, or living room. He also did not take from the popcorn ceiling which is what I also advertised to have tested. Last place he took a sample from was the HVAC.

The tests I wanted were for lead paint and asbestos in the popcorn and wall. He said lead paint is not used in ceiling popcorn which contradicted what I read on other painter's contractor's websites.

I was not going to argue that out. The point was to find out what is in the material so I can plan accordingly and give accurate information to my other contractors. He goes on to give me a story about bad neighborhoods he been to and the history of lead paint and it affecting African American's intelligence and learning abilities. I never asked about all of this.

Then after completing the job, he says I can pay him via Zelle or Cashapp or whatever payment method I want. He repeated the same methods Zelle and Cashapp that us "youngsters" use as if he was emphasizing that is what he wanted. I decided to pay by check. I got no receipt and no contract. No receipt and no contract was a huge red flag. I also noticed that the sample bags he used were not labeled.

After he completed the job, he handed me the bag and have me hand it to him and explained that he does that because he does not have the certification and that he is sending it to the lab on "my behalf." He says that he has four certifications but that he was not certified for asbestos. Um, what? Then why respond to my ad when that was one of the tests that I wanted to have done!?

I paid him by check and he seemed very unusual about accepting it. This is where things took a turn and I eventually had to terminate doing business with the company. He came by on a Thursday and he told me the results should be available around 7PM. I waited patiently until Tuesday and then texted him about it and his excuse was a death in the family caused him to go out of town. It seemed as though he didn't remember me and asked for my e-mail which he should have from my Angi posting and he stated he had my contact information before he left the job the week before.

A few more days go by and still no report done and the check not cashed. 9 days total gone by for a job that has a 1 to 2 day turn-around for results that others offered. I believe I was very fair in giving him a week and a half to get me the results back. I am very patient and I think anybody else would have given more problems.

I could have hired someone else, but instead I ended up losing 30 dollars from putting a stop payment at my bank and texting him his service is canceled.

What really grinds my gears is that Angi recommended him and had supposedly vetted him, but when I searched Broward Clerk of Courts, Bizpedia, and Sunbiz, I found information that should have disqualified Real Solutions 3's owner from posting on the website. I don't know how Angi operates or screens them but based on what they posted about the user, it is clear something went wrong in the screening process.

Tip for consumers:
If this company scams you out of money and does not perform the required job then report it to the police and seek help from the local media. I am keeping records of all communications and e-mails just in case more victims come forward.

I hired a company called Real Solutions 3 through Angi's List to have lead and asbestos testing. The contractor came out and took samples of the paint and from the HVAC. I gave him payment and he completely disappeared on me, claiming he had a a family emergency. 2 weeks later and no response! This set me back on my timeline for remodeling my place which I am trying to get in order for my family to come over for the summer. Now I guess I have to hire someone else to do the same testing and work.
I also found out that the company I hired through Angi was not vetted. They are not licenses to do asbestos testing and their business is currently inactive according to Sunbiz and Bizapedia.

Angi is great for wasting people's time and connecting us to scammers.

Tip for consumers:
This service caused me unnecessary headaches, anxiety, and connected me to a shady person that now has me to resort to arming myself and doing police reports.
