I consigned over a dozen art prints and carvings with the Jasper52 auction house in March 2023. To sell through that site (affiliated with LiveAuctioneers), you must do all of your own photography, descriptions of items, condition reports, packing and shipping. All they provide is the auction platform/venue/payment collection from buyers, and they take 15% for that. When an item sells, you pack/ship it to the buyer out-of-your-pocket, while Jasper52 collects the money for the item plus that shipping amount -- supposedly to reimburse you when they pay you.

The problem is getting paid! My items sold in two auctions last month and Jasper52 has not paid me yet. They state right there on their website that they pay "within 21 days of the live auction." It is well past the 21 days and I have not been paid. I am out the shipping costs (many hundreds of dollars for just that alone), and they ignore calls and emails requesting payment, except for sending me an email saying they have assigned my request a "case number." What? It doesn't need a case number! The items sold, I shipped them, they were delivered to the buyers, and Jasper52 has ALL THE MONEY -- end of story. There is no "case."

Update as of 4/21/03: There is now a pending payment to me from Jasper52. The acct. Manager there did take the initiative to call me, and she expressed her view that this delayed payment was not the norm for this auction company. I am not sure why it took 36 days to be paid; if these longer turnaround-times are, in truth, their regular payment time-frame, they should update their website with that information. I will also say that Paypal was listed as one of their reimbursement options -- and it turns out that it is not. You have to sign up for "Bill.com" -- something I did not have any interest in doing (did not want to have to submit personal/banking information to yet another payment-site) but was forced to, to get the payment. If they are no longer dealing with Paypal, that should be updated on their website, too.

All in all, I would now say they are not scammers, as I was beginning to be worried about. But their website information is out-of-date and misleading, communications are sometimes answered/sometimes not, and the delayed payment contributed to concerns I had about their legitimacy. Proceed with caution, and ask for a written list of submissions instructions, department contacts, payment options (actually there is only one now), and all other necessary guidelines BEFORE you engage with Jasper52. That way, perhaps there won't be the "surprises" I experienced, regarding your listed items, time/schedule, money/payment, etc.
