Let's say you have a health concern with your dog, and you live in a country where their veterinarians aren't as skilled and advanced as western countries, like the U.S. or Canada (which is where the site is based out of), and some of the country's inhabitants still eat dog soup and dog meat (i. E. South Korea). So, you decide to join a site, such as dogforums.com, to seek help and support from other dog-loving people. You post your concern of your dog in the Dog Health subforum in hopes of reaching out to other people who have had a similar issue with their dog, and you find people are very kind and are trying to help you out by sharing their own experience.
Well, then comes in a moderator, who shall remain nameless (I wouldn't want attacks on her. Perhaps, she was having a rough day, maybe someone rubbed her the wrong way at work, maybe she got a traffic ticket that day, or maybe she just lacks the innate emotional ability to have empathy towards others who are struggling with their dog's health. Who knows?) decides to close your thread because of all these so-called "rules" she's imposed on users.
You've already gone to the vet, and, mind you, in a country where they still serve dog stew and dog meat in some restaurants, and you aren't sure if the vet's opinion is correct. So, you would like to compare your vet's diagnosis with others who have gone through a similar medical issue with their dog... but, guess what? IT'S NOT ALLOWED. The moderator prohibits asking others to share their own experience with their dog. She also prohibits you to second-guess the vet's opinion. Whatever the vet's medical advice is, is what you HAVE TO adhere to. You want to hear others' stories to have a basis of comparison? TOO BAD. The mod won't allow it. Might I add, you can only post ONE THREAD regarding your dog's health concern. You want to ask more questions regarding your vet's diagnosis to other users? TOO BAD. You're only allowed to post that one thread.
So, in conclusion, if you're seeking help and support from other dog-loving people who can empathize with your situation, I highly suggest going somewhere else, where the moderators are more empathetic and don't have some sick power trip from imposing all these "rules" on you that can very well be detrimental when it comes to looking for help with your dog's health concern.
