I just tried to cancel a $400 booking through hosteling.com. The website let me cancel, but they did not refund my money. When I called, I spoke to someone who barely spoke English who informed me that I would have had to cancel ten days before my trip. Not true. I tried to do so before the ten day mark and it still said then that I would be owed no refund. So now they have canceled my booking claiming they "can't retrieve it", and I'm out $400+. What a scam!

I'm sorry to hear that you feel this way. Pleaser let me explain that our cancellation policy says that we're able to refund your money if you requested cancellation 10 days before your stay.
