And they ask why Barnes & Noble is failing. I wanted to buy the "Essential Elements 2000: Comprehensive Band Method: B Flat Clarinet Book 1" for my daughter.
I typed in "essential elements 2000 for Clarinet" in Amazon.com and it came up with a list of 51 results out of which the very first one and the one after that was the one I wanted (I needed Book 1) - these 2 were followed by 2 more results for Book 2 and then a whole page of other clarinet results (for the same book, but listed with slight variations because they were from 3rd party sellers).
I decided to do the same thing at Barnes & Noble. This time, I got 71 results out of which 30 were on the first page. Now the way they were listed, the only part I could see was "Essential Elements 2000 for..." on most of the 30. I had to mouse-over to see the entire description. Fine, no biggie right? Guess what, the clarinet books were #10 (book 2) and #13 (book 1) respectively. Also, they were not listed that way - they were listed as BB Bass Clarinet and BB Clarinet. What was the rest of the stuff on the first page you ask? The very first was Violin Book2, followed by Flute and then Viola Book2. Why in the world would you show me those when I was searching for a Clarinet book? Ok, now B&N DOES NOT have the book in stock - it is only available from 3rd party sellers. So, the store that ONLY sells books does not have a book in stock?
You can imagine the end result - I ordered from Amazon, got 2-day shipping and it will be here Monday. Amazon - Woohoo, Barnes & Noble - FAIL!
