What is the process for qualifying a landlord? I am looking at an an apartment in NYC & it truly sounds too good to be true and am afraid its a scam?

If it sounds good it is a scam. Run do not walk away and contact the FBI. Because locals will do nothing. And apartment.com is doing nothing to help. Get off this site as quickly as you can! I think we should sue apartment.com. Started an email called suetheirass@gmail.com. During the pandemic, the scammers took everything I had, and now I'm facing the streets. Apartment. Com was at fault for being their platform.

Greetings, They Apartments.com does a basic check to make sure you are the owner or landlord as it took me one week before I could advertise to be vetted. But always visit the property in person with a friend, not all landlords are honest. Never pay unless you have visited the rental and get receipt and never pay in-full unless you have a signed lease in-hand. Best of luck. The Happy Landlord
