Do Not shop in the Westminster Store. Do Not trust their geek squad. I was unable to accompany my grandmother to the store when her 18 month old HP All in One computer stopped working. In the span of an afternoon the sales team and Geek Squad looked at her computer and convinced her it was dead and way too expensive to fix. They charged her for programs and virus protection she already had and convinced her to buy an ASUS brand and told her HP is going down hill so it was a better buy. They also charged her to transfer her data for an additional $60. I talked to her after all of this was done and told her and my aunt to make sure and get her old unit back when they picked up the new one. I had contacted HP and they were willing to repair it for free because it was only 18 months old. When my Grandmother went to get it she was told they had to rip the old one apart and it was useless so they recycled it. Not only did they sell an inferior product to my grandmother who has a hard time hearing and understanding they destroyed and recycled a computer that potentially could have been fixed. I am disgusted with Best Buy. The sales team and geek squad are thieves. I understand they are in business to make money but really do they have a conscious? I will never shop at any best buy store again. I encourage others to boycott and if you do have to interact with them please help your elderly relatives when dealing with these money hungry criminals.

I would write a letter to your state's attorney general. There are laws regarding taking advantage of senior citizens. I would specifically ask for documentation from Best Buy in which your grandmother gave them permission to recycle her 18 month old computer. If they cannot produce that document they may be in very big trouble with the state's attorney general. I would also write the BBB and contact your public officials. This I think would be paramount to theft if your grandmother did not give them permission to recycle her computer. On the flip side of things, ASUS is a very good machine. My son is a computer scientist and swears by ASUS. I have three ASUS machines one of which is over 5 years old and it is a workhorse. Unless something significant happens in the ASUS business world, I will continue to buy ASUS!

I am appalled at how your grandmother was railroaded. Customers just cannot trust anyone anymore. Women and the elderly are easy targets to these thieves. The almighty profit god is pervasive. File a formal complaint - is a good idea.

Am very sorry and VERY UPSET IN WHAT had happened to your Dear Grandmother, disgusted g! I don't know how U had held from letting their BOSS HAVE AN EAR FULL of my spit, as if it we're my Grandmother, I would have brought her back with me and point the son-of -a-$#*!es out, then have her watch her Vietnam Veteran Grandson treat them like some of those "charlie's" over there! I know it's not the right way to solve the situation but I also know that no one takes advantage of my defenseless Grandmother! Now with that said, as U h

I think this is outrageous! Best buy needs to be held accountable! I suggest you file a formal complaint with consumer affairs. They are helpful. Good luck. I'm like you I will NEVER go to best buy again.
