Ordered an ecard, received an email saying the "payment was unable to be processed", yet they took the money out of my account ??

Answer:

This happened to me also. My credit card company said they would do a fraud investigation.

Yes, i was told that the card will come by email...how is the card used? does the recipient ever get a plastic card?

No, they will get an email and can only use the card online if it works.
