Hi. I had placed an order from iHerbs a while back which amounted to about 3500 INR, and on receipt of the order I had to pay a custom duty approximately equaling the amount of the order i. E. about 2800 INR.
However there was no mention of the same while purchase of order or while inquiry from DHL.
How exactly are the custom duties calculated that they come out to be about 90-100% of the order value itself?
Is there any way the same can be refunded to me?

Im about to sue them. Theyre site is fraudulent as it uses a UK prefix to misrepresent where the goods are being shipped from. Interestingly in research prior to issuing the court process i found US sites who ship in UK with no customs charges. The site is hosted on google ads and i am suing them also

Exactly same thing happened to me. Amazing thing at the time of checkout at order summary they mention 0 duty and fee. They are rude and unprofessional. At this era of information and services like Amazon, they are very shameful, they give wrong information and pathetic customer service. They are thugs.

Custom. Duties vary based on type. Of. Product. Further if u see ur dhl. Invoice there are diff components break. Up. Provided. This entire. Amount is.not duty. There are handling fees by dhl. Education cess etc.
Total. Rip off if u ask.me! Had a similar experience (same. Amount). Swear to never again order from. Iherb! And.fall.for.the dhl. Flat shipping rates!

No, apparently it is written at the bottom of the page on check out in very small print that duties might be applicable. Most other sites either include duties or they give you the option of paying them upfront.

I have no idea how custom fees are computed
I think it varies in different countries and how heavy your package is. (?)
