Hi Lenka

What makes TrustedHousesitters different is the fair exchange between sitters and owners. Pet and travel loving sitters offer to care for an owners home and pets for free, in exchange for an unforgettable experience in a new location.

Here are just 5 reasons why our members love to sit for free:

1. Discover new places
As a TrustedHousesitters member, you can choose from tens of thousands of sits in over 150 countries throughout your annual membership. The opportunities really are endless!

2. Enjoy the company of pets
If you have a pet-shaped hole in your life, house and pet sitting is the perfect way to fill it! Spend time with furry friends and enjoy the feel good factor, knowing that youve helped pets stay happy at home while their owners travel.

3. Save on the cost of travel
Accommodation can make up a third of the cost of your getaway, but with TrustedHousesitters you can stay for free in exchange for caring for homes and pets. You can also reduce your living costs as youll have access to a fully equipped home during your travels.

4. Experience a new way of living
House sitting can be a great way to experience new lifestyles and stay in places that you would never find on an booking site. Try out life on a hobby farm, in a city centre high rise, or by the sea. Stay for free in a multi-million dollar home, a historic country cottage, or a modern grand design!

5. Relax and unwind
From short weekend retreats to longer getaways, house and pet sitting provides a perfect way to escape day-to-day life. There have been a number of studies that show spending time with pets can also help reduce stress and improve your health!

House sitters offer their time and services for free, as house sitting is such a wonderful experience. Our members are animal lovers who enjoy giving their time to help owners take a break, in exchange for free accommodation in some fantastic locations, they would never normally get the chance to experience.

Some offer their help as a way of visiting a new area as a local, rather than a tourist. Others may be visiting family but don't want to stay with them. Some sitters are writers or artists looking for new places for inspiration. There are so many reasons house sitters help free of charge.

Do not hesitate to let us know if you need any more information.

Thank you
The TrustedHousesitters Team

Nothing. They get the chance to stay for free in an area of their choosing, along with the outlined responsibilities agreed to.

House/Pet sits found through this site are NOT paid. The housesitter gets to stay at the residence for free (no hotel bill in amazing locations!) and in exchange you care for the home and any pets. Win win.

You don't pay them. They are living in your house in exchange for pet/plant care. This is a mutually benefical trade--it means people can travel without having to pay for lodging while others can travel without having to pay a petsitter. Everyone wins! Just make sure to pick someone with several unique positive reviews.

Nothing. The sitters come because they want to travel and stay for free. You don't have to provide them food or anything although we always offer enough for their 1st morning and use of all seasonings, oils, and leftovers in our fridge.

Not paid. Strictly voluntary, in exchange for a place to stay.

There is no pay, it is an exchange service. Sitters receive free accommodation in exchange for taking care of a homeowner's house and pets.
