Hi Arabella Thanks for your question. The answer is not at all, we have many listings of a similar nature, ranging from farms to ranches and everything in between. The key to this is ensuring your listing is 100% accurate detailing the needs of all animals and the grounds, and the daily requirements the sitter would be expected to do. Many sitters do so for a life changing experience, on a property they might never have the opportunity to experience, and so they would delight in this opportunity. If your listing is accurate, you should only get sitters apply who have direct experience and are totally prepared for the nature of the sit you are offering. Then once you have found a sitter you like, be sure to do lots of phone calls, video calls, meet up in person where possible and really get to know each other, ensuring they are aware and happy with all of the care your home and pets need while you are away. Hello Kali, That is a great question. We are in the process of looking into our owners also completing verification levels. What we recommend as with meeting anyone new via an online platform is to do as much due-diligence beforehand as possible. Skype, phone calls and meet the owners before the sit. You can arrange to meet them and their pets in a public park for example if you will be caring for their dog. Choosing like-minded owners that you can connect with and start building a relationship with before you meet and care for their pets. You can also choose to sit with a friend and add them for no extra charge to your sitter's profile. Making sure that you are comfortable with the owner and location before you agree to the sit. Following normal safety precautions such as giving a friend the address, you will be staying at and checking in when you arrive etc. We have never had any reports of sitters having safety issues with owners as ultimately owners are also paying a membership fee to find someone to come to their home and care for their pets. We manually approve every home listing that we receive making sure that it meets our guidelines and reach out to the owners if we have any questions. Look for listings with sitters feedback as this will help you know what the house, owner and pets are like and how previous sitters have got on staying there. We approve all listings that go onto the site, and anything that describes or requires excessive work type responsibilities, labour, or has any third party on site, including B&B or AIRBNB guests, will not be approved, as our community is not a place for people to find free labour. A: Hello Ken, That is a great question and there is no set answer as we have seen owners post a listing with just a few days to go before the sit and they secure their perfect sitter. However, as a general rule, the more time in advance that you post your sit dates on the site the longer sitters have to see your listing and apply. Also, the more time that you have to talk to and/or meet these sitters and choose the right one for you and your pets & home! The sitter can come for as little as one overnight stay, to weeks or even months. It really is super flexible and you post the dates that suit your needs for a sitter. A membership runs for a full year and in that time you can post an unlimited amount of dates when you require sitters.
