How much advance notice is needed to secure a house sitter. Is there a minimum and/or maximum number of days the sitters will come for?

A: Hello Ken,

That is a great question and there is no set answer as we have seen owners post a listing with just a few days to go before the sit and they secure their perfect sitter. However, as a general rule, the more time in advance that you post your sit dates on the site the longer sitters have to see your listing and apply. Also, the more time that you have to talk to and/or meet these sitters and choose the right one for you and your pets & home!

The sitter can come for as little as one overnight stay, to weeks or even months. It really is super flexible and you post the dates that suit your needs for a sitter. A membership runs for a full year and in that time you can post an unlimited amount of dates when you require sitters.

Our Membership Service Team will be only too happy to discuss the site with your further and your specific requirements. Please feel free to visit our Help Center where you can email or call us or the LiveChat feature on the site connects you to an agent quickly and easily. They can always schedule you a call back as well! Visit this link: https://support.trustedhousesitters.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new

I posted my request for a sitter about 2 weeks before my trip but a coworker posted a request on Friday for a sitter on Saturday.

It's easier to vet all applicants through phone calls/facetime if you post your dates well in advance. My daughter, however, found a housesitter withing just a week of her wanting to go away for a long weekend at Thanksgiving. I usually throw my dates up the minute I know I'm going somewhere and then see how many people apply. That way I can decide which ones would work best for us.
