The Hebron Carrollton Texas location. I so regrets getting a unit in Texas with this company, customer service Horrible, rates go up every 3 to 4 months and I am renting a closet literally and paying 91.00! Have not been a Year and on 2nd rate increase. Please avoid speaking with Carl at this location! I am so disappointed and disgusted with this company. I put my stuff in storage before temporarily moving across the country to be with my 8-year-old niece who is fighting cancer - needless to say this is a very difficult time. This company advertised a rate and increased it by MORE THAN DOUBLE after a few months. I just looked on the website... storage units that are larger than mine, and on the first floor (more convenient) are cheaper than what they are charging me.

I got called out of my name. The bottom line is they have no accountability from the sites employees to the site managers and then their district managers. There is no one else to talk to about these managers. They call you once and when you call them back they don't call you back. I requested one free month to be compensated. I didn't don't even get an apology from them. So I'd tell others looking for storage space don't give this here business your business. Thank You

Tip for consumers:
They no upper management except district managers. If they fail the customer the corporate company doesn’t care. I’m tired of the district managers are the ones who have the last word. Don’t do business with them. I was called an “Ungrateful $#*!ing $#*!” by the site manager.

This company is unprofessional. They allow their staff to treat customers disrespectfully. There is no accountability and no compensation. The staff can you curse words I won’t have it. Had I known they were rated lowly. I would have gone elsewhere.

Ms. Roberta $#*!ens I'm here to thank you for putting the company you represent in first class position by displaced your professionalism to me and to the world that extra space really hired some great employees.
My moved out of extra space storage located at 1900 Windsor Place in Texas USA was a very sad story because I was not in the country. But because you have a heart of human being and with all your managerial ethics, you devoted your time with patience and listen to me and I followed your directions and my things were removed successfully by UPS to the final destination and for that I thank you millions times and I thank extra space for hired a manager who can understand the customers pain in time of emergency needs. Thank again Ms. Roberta stay well and stay blessed.

This business will charge you extra money without notice bring up your rates without notice there is nobody to talk to when you have an issue you are given a fake email to contact. Building is never cleaned bathroom never had toilet paper changed never seen the hallways ever get cleaned place is disgusting. Staff is disgusting and thinks being flirty makes her laziness okay. Do yourself a favor and don't rent here I'd rather pay more money somewhere else than deal with this company there are no carts and when there is one and you try to use it there is such a decline that your belongings will roll away on you. Was told insurance doesn't cover stolen possessions here!

The elevator at the Granger location has been down for 2 weeks. I was told the only way I can get to my unit is to take off of work and come when someone is in the office and they would let me in via the fire escape? There needs to be reliable access to the second floor. Please at least put a key pad on one of the upstairs doors so people can get to their belongings.

I am writing this review to express my deep dissatisfaction with the services provided by Extra Space Storage, specifically at the location 5801 W W.T.Harris Blvd, Charlotte, NC *******.

Today, we experienced a significant loss when approximately $40,000 worth of my husband's lawn care equipment was stolen from our storage unit. Shockingly, despite the alleged security measures in place, none of the cameras captured the incident. The thief somehow managed to avoid detection by exploiting a hole in the gate.

To add to our frustration, when we approached the staff with legitimate concerns about the security system and video footage, they displayed an audacious attitude and seemed upset by our questions. This lack of cooperation and nonchalant response is completely unacceptable.

The dismissive behavior, deflection of responsibility, and overall dismal customer service raise serious concerns. It appears to be more than just a random incident; the possibility of an inside job cannot be ignored.

I strongly advise potential customers against using Extra Space Storage at this location. The evident lack of commitment to safety and protection is alarming, making it clear that these aspects are not high on their priority list. Our experience has been a nightmare, and we hope others can avoid such a distressing situation by choosing a more reliable storage provider.

This place will get you to sign a contract for a certain amount and then jack up the rate a few months in with no warning. Terrible business model. Our contract rate went up 74% after 3 months. All communication since our move in was via email (because we moved!) but they claim they sent a letter notifying of increase. Regardless an increase of 74% in unacceptable. Why have a contract at all? We are getting our stuff out of here and we will never use this facility ever again.

I have had to house my belongings in their facilities in Platte Canyon Colorado for a number of years. Past managers have been wonderful. Within the last year there were changes in management and I was treated in a very unprofessional borderline unethical way. Fortunately, those individuals aren't there anymore and Carl and Elizabeth have been great to work with. It is a lovely site with a beautiful mountain view and is very clean - but they are pricey. They raise their prices after 3 months and periodically. I would have rated them higher if I hadn't had a recent bad experience. Fortunately, they have fixed it.

Everything I own was stolen, they told me they recovered all calls when o told them to play my call they keep telling me they waiting on their IT…I been calling they send me to voicemail but they will only send me to the team lead. People NEVER put you things in this place they open your space see what's in it and it's all down hill. My wedding dress, my marriage license my whole life and all I got was they mad a mistake and no answer calls. PLEASE do NOT put your personal things here.

The storage unit, at store #1178 is clean with easy access. Most important, the managers Kathleen Grant and Tom Farrel were very professional and helpful. This is the first time I have ever rented a space and Kathleen calmed my anxiety and was very helpful. I will reccomend this storage facility to friends. I feel my property is secure with Extra Storage at this site.

DO NOT RENT from this Extra Space Storage location (or any for that matter). The units on the third floor of this facility, as well as the facility itself, are not secure and can easily be accessed by burglars without even having to break in. The "secure" front door entrance can be accessed without a code simply by shoving a thin stick between the sliding doors to trigger the motion sensor that opens the doors from the inside. On the third floor of the facility, every unit has a ~four foot gap between the top of their unit and the ceiling, which is covered only by three thin metal cross bars that do not in any way prevent someone from entering your unit. All they need is a ladder. I have photo evidence of numerous other third-floor units with obvious signs of forced entry, have filed a police report, have connected with an attorney if Extra Space continues to refuse to pay me for losses, and will continue to climb the chain of command at Extra Space Storage until they do. The worst part of this entire deal: Extra Space Storage has known for a long time that their facility is insecure and that people's units are being broken into. They have done absolutely nothing about it. They didn't notify renters on the third floor that their items may be in jeopardy or were already taken, they didn't add any security measures to secure the individual units on the third floor, and they didn't do anything to prevent illegal entrance through the front door of the building despite having ample video evidence of this occurring. The facility manager told me that she knows this has been happening and has implored corporate to allow their facility to expand employee hours to have more on-site presence, to hire additional security personnel, to upgrade the process for entrance into the building and onto the elevator, and to place additional bars across the open area atop the third floor storage units to prevent someone from being able to enter them with a ladder. Corporate's response to everything? No, it isn't in your budget and we are not willing to pay anything additional to cut into our profit margins, regardless of security issues. Extra Space Storage is guilty of gross negligence as they knowingly allowed their building and their renters' property to be accessed and burglarized without notifying anyone or doing a single thing about it. The only service that Extra Space Storage offers is to securely store your property for you in their facility, and they have utterly and disgracefully failed to do so, and they know it but refuse to do the right thing to remedy the situation. To Extra Space Storage, pay me the money you owe me to reimburse me for items lost and for the rent I paid to you to secure my property. You did not perform the single function that you claim to offer and that I paid you to perform. Myself, along with many other renters, deserve compensation given your gross negligence and the liability you assume by operating your business as you have. If you are in the same situation as I am, reach out to me and join me in the righteous fight against Extra Space Storage and yet another example of corporate greed at the cost of everyday people.

This is the most expensive self storage!
The people working there are rude!
The place is very uncompromising to help one in a emergency situation!
Emergency happened. Had a friend empty unit. She thought the lock was theirs and put it back locking the unit. (I didn't know she locked it)
Is now 5 days past due. They say they emailed me for payment. They did not!
She then said "oh well, it's not our responsibility to email u". (Y tell me u sent one). So they lie also. I said I'd unlock today and even give u the lock.
The answer is NO. Only if I also pay 224.60.
They will not let me unlock the unit for them. They wanna keep charging me every month.
It's 5 days over and it's empty and will not let me unlock for them without that payment!
I do not have that kind of money after this emergency!
They are unwilling at all! They have no compassion!
I do not recommend them.

Storage unit expensive, rude people and uncompromising to help in a emergency. Want to continue to charge me even tho the unit is empty and cleaned. They won’t let me come unlock it for them without me paying 224.60.
They will keep it locked and empty and continue to charge me that monthly fee, unless I pay that before next month. The unit has been empty for 6 wks.
After the emergency situation, I do not have 224.60.
I did say I’d come today with $75.00 and unlock it.
A flat out NO.
She also told me they sent a email to me. They did not, when I told her that, she said
“It is not our responsibility to send one out”
So, y did u tell me one went out to me?
They lie also!

They raise the rate when ever they want. In the course of two years it has more than doubled. They will not tell what it will be in the future so I assume they will continue to raise it until it is even more intolerable. Finally I'm moving out.They know how difficult and inconvenient it is to just move out so this is their business model. It's a SCAM.

Today I went to my storage and found it was ransacked and my electric guitar and amplifier was stolen it's still a mystery to me what happened the lock was not cut but I did go online and it said my lock is easy to pick. Also some Elvis stuff is missing my foot locker was open. The storage people wouldn't even compensate me for my rent now really we put our stuff there for them to keep safe and then it gets ripped off. Also rodent problems and I got something ruined.

These people are thieves. They say they are veteran owned and turn around and stab you in the back. The veteran discount was pure BS. They gave a quote and we were leary because of the bad reviews, but being a veteran owned company I thought they would have some honor. THEY DO NOT! They are common criminals. We explained EXACTLY what furniture we had. We got our quote and they outsourced the job to another company. They showed up and demanded an extra 1100 dollars. They are scumbag criminals too. They are called Expert Logistics LLC. Avoid them also. I cannot believe a company says they support veterans and are veteran owned, but turn around and fleece you like a common criminal. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!

The people that extra space storage have been exceptionally nice and helpful. Bob, at Sherman Street in San Diego, has been extra nice. He helped me select and get just the right size, and when I needed a bit more space he was able to get me another right beside my existing storage.
Today, when I consolidated down to one storage again, he processed prorated refund while I was there.
I would recommend extra space storage based on the people alone, and add that the facility is always clean, well lit, and secure.

Contracted them to move my two bedroom home to Florida. Told me one price based on 800 cubes even though I told them I cad 1200 cubes. Told me he would price it at 800 cubes to match my other bids. Then customer service called and went through the contract and changed it. Went from 4 k to 8 k. Could not get my down payment back, I was stuck with them. Never again

Boston, MA branch went from great to horrible Sr, 2019-2021. In addition to steadily increasing rates throughout the pandemic--sending notices only by mail but threats to pitch my stuff via e-mail weeks later--they filed no report after my TV and 2 huge boxes of kitchen stuff and linens were stolen. The site supervisor asked if I'd had movers then nobody got back to me from local or corporate offices.

The most disturbing aspect is that the thieves took their time: broke a toaster and tossed it back; punched holes through my linen, room-divider screen; rummaged through rubber tubs and took clocks and blankets from the top then replaced the covers, etc. And there was no sign of tampering with the lock--obviously an inside job, so even had they checked the tapes to see anyone with a good-sized TV (40" stand) under his arm leaving the building, it's highly unlikely that tape would be there vs. "oops, got taped over."

About to move a year later, I'll cram 1 BR's worth of stuff into a studio or rented room rather than put the non-valuables I have left in storage, risking damage to sentimental items.

Tip for consumers:
Avoid no-insurance, random-hike storage. The paper on which you declare the value of your belongings is not insurance! You must purchase insurance separately.

My unit was one of several broken in to on State College in Anaheim. Zero security cameras near my unit and a flimsy hasp that was easily cut by occupants of the nearby homeless encampments is their idea of "exceptional security." If you value your belongings, store them anywhere but this dump. They've also reduced access hours due to construction, so I had to take time off work to meet with their staff regarding the theft. My car is filthy because much of the property isn't even paved - and you're dreaming if you think the dirt won't get into your unit as easily as the the thieves.

Rental unit cost almost doubled in less than a few months. And then, they were authorized to do direct withdrawals from my account. Suddenly I heard that my account was past due and they charged me late fees and some auction fees. No respect whatsoever for the consumers. Worst experience ever.
