“Predatory Credit Card Practices. Closed account got late fees POST closure.”

My wife used Good Sam during a cross country trip, then wanted to pay off her credit card with them. They applied the late fee AFTER the rep told her she was completely paid off. They did not send us a late fee in the mail, email, or leave a voice message. The late fee compounded until she answered the phone one time months later, the rep told her that she was late on her fee for a CLOSED account. The first rep could have included the late fee as a credit during the initial interaction, then the matter would have been settled. I feel that this was deliberate and predatory. How is a EX-customer supposed to be alerted if their account has been closed? It tanked her credit score because of this. Use the service, not the card. And FOR SURE. Don't trust that they have your best interest at heart.

My 2 sisters and I were 40 miles from Roswell, NM. Motor home broke down on a major highway. We are all seniors, depending on Good Sam to rescue us. Good Sam left us broke down in traffic for 6 hours, they were trying to find a cheap tow for us. Then charged me $132.00. Good Sam said they only tow 32 miles and Roswell was 40 miles away. This is incorrect, I paid it, but fought it later and won. Good Sam is a horrible company, they ONLY want your money and don't want to help you. They kept trying to get me to cancel my request for a tow truck. Didn't do it, we hung in until a truck came at 12:45am. If you go with Good Sam, you're going knowing they are crooks!

Tip for consumers:
Good Sam is a crooked establishment!!! They will do everything they can to prevent fulfilling their agreement!! Go with anyone else but Good Sam!!!

Good Sam Club is for owners of RV's to join. I have been a member since 2001 and currently own a 10-year-old 5th-wheel trailer. Checking my credit card account on 24 May 2019 I noticed a charge of $699.99 from the Good Sam Club for their annual Extended Service Plan (ESP). I did not order the plan. They had my credit card number for their roadside service.
I called and they said they had me down as automatic renewal which was not true. I did have the service several years ago, but never renewed. They said the new 'renewal' cancellation would cost $50.00. I refused to pay. They came back with the idea I would be charged for the days the new plan was in effect from 22 May 2019. I told them I was not going to pay anything for a plan I did not order or ever used. They eventually said they would remove the charge. A later check of my credit card account showed they had removed it. I trusted them for years, but now I am on guard.
