Harbor Freight has garnered a mixed reputation among customers, with some praising the affordability and variety of tools available. However, a significant number of reviews highlight persistent issues with product quality, including defective items and poor customer service experiences. Common complaints revolve around strict return policies, including restocking fees and unhelpful staff interactions, which have left many customers feeling frustrated and undervalued. Overall, while the company attracts budget-conscious shoppers, its customer service approach and product reliability appear to be major areas needing improvement to enhance overall satisfaction.

The worst company, products, and worst customer service ever, and the biggest thieves, don't buy from them again
On10/09/2023 I had went to HARBOR FRIGHT IN BRAINTREE The manager Tom and the cashier Michael and josh were very professional and helpful and very knowledgeable about everything and very nice it was a nice experience and the process very easy store *******
Don't work for them they treat you like crap and write you up even when you have proof you was in the right
I see a 1 star rating is as low as can go! They charge a 20% return on a item. Dont go there, a rip off!
Bought a grease gun from harbor freight and a 5-10 min job turned out to be a 1/2 day headache. I am done buying junk from communist China. It's all junk in my honest opinion.
Received a "25% coupon with NO EXCLUSIONS" listed in bold print. When I attempted to use it at the local store, the item was excluded. The store clerks indicated "all coupons have exclusions in the small print".
Add states 30% off on everything, no exclusions! In a small coupon below ad it reads: on items up to $20
It's now 8:15 there's 12 cars in the parking lot and no one to open the store. In a market that's as competitive as the hardware industry, there's one cardinal rule:You can't sell tools if you don't open the doors…so basic.
But like everything else that's wrong with this country, we're focused on wether we have the proper socio-political work force instead of competency. Let me xplain how that's working for you: 6 people have already left and I'm joining them! Lowe's here I come!
Miami store 163 ave!
First time I've ever purchased anything from here. I went online to order polishing pads. They wouldn't let you order and pick it up at warehouse. I ordered them because they were available at Waukesha. I live in Mukwonago Wisconsin I'm like how long could it take to come in the mail? Only to look at the FedEx order the next morning. They were shipping it from South Carolina. I was like what the $#*!. So I drove over to Waukesha. 30 minute drive. Ask if they can just cancel the order? (It only stated that a tracking number was made in the FedEx tracking.) I will just pick it up here right now. They were like we can't do that it's coming from corporate. So then I called corporate. I'm like just cancel the order and I will pick it up right here in Waukesha. Even offered to still pay the 8 dollars in shipping and handling. The ladies like we can't do that once it's in the system. I was like you can do that at Grainger or anywhere else. The package is not en route and hasn't even been packaged. It's pretty stupid you're shipping something from South Carolina when it's sitting here in Waukesha and you could've shipped it from there and I could get it the mail next day. Long story short I ordered it seven days (Sept 14th) ago and I'm still waiting for the stupid pads. I will never again order anything from this place. $#*!ty customer service. There's absolutely no reason they can't cancel that sticker aka tracking number that was created on the 15th. Package didn't end up leaving until the following day 16th so they absolutely could've done that.
I ordered a product online and then tried to cancel the order within 2 hours by email. I never received a response for those emails so I called the next day and spoke with a person who assured me they would cancel the order. Next thing I know the item is shipped. Didn't even get notification that the item was shipped. Do not order online because you will not get any help if something goes wrong or you want to change your order. They'll just ship it and totally disregard any communication. I read something about that they charge you 20% restocking fee within the store, if they try to do that I'm going to raise all kinds of h3ll.
I make a good wage and a credit score over 800. Can only qualify for $2,500. Doesn't cover the cost of one tool chest. Canceled the credit card. Not worth the credit ding.
They do not stand behind there tools I bought a genarators that appeared to have bin new it started right up it looked good I hooked it up to my trailer and it fried the inverter converter in like one minute flatt harbored fright had me get estimate 3 of them and the whole nine yards now all they won't to do is give me one third the value of the generator and I eat the trailer they have bin giving me the run around all summer long this Eric Valencia the claims adjuster is a joke don't buy something like a genarators from them it will just break your stuff and not to mention all summer my family And I have bin on camping hold do to this matter thank you harbored freight for destroying our summer.
They can't find my purchase history and I purchased a safe and apparently they don't offer replacement keys! What store does that. They said to call a locksmith if that situation occurs which is more than the cost of the safe. They say this is for security reasons, wth.?
So I buy a lot of tools that I normally would only need a couple times. Especially after the icon tool incident. I picked up the icon wrenches, and broke 2 within a week. Brought them in to get replacements. I was told I needed the whole set! What? Then I was told that they don't have single wrenches to do replacements. If have to bring the set in, then they get sent to the manufacture, and then I have to wait for them to send a new set. I asked why can I bring Pittsburg wrenches in and one gets pulled right from a new set? He didn't have an answer. Then yesterday I was trying to find a 72" us general rolling chest. I called the stores that said in stock on the website, but when I called I was told they're in stock for our sale only. Wtf does that even mean I said. The few people I talked to explained to me that I have to order it, then wait 4+ weeks to get it. Then a few told me that they get calls daily asking for this chest. If it'sa hot commodity right now wouldn't you think you'd want at least a few at each store? Finally I found one that was sent extra. I had to drive 2.5 hours to get it. Only reason I went to lengths to get it was because I needed it by Monday not months from now. Then I was told the top work stations or top boxes take even longer……. REALLY… You guys really need to figure out the return policy on icon and keep a few series 3's on hand. Maybe less garbage boxes like the Yukon line, and nobody I see is buying the series 2's, and you'd have room for what's going to sell. Other than those issues I have never had an issue with harbor freight. But today made me think what a joke……. Hopefully things change
I don't have a receipt or record of my purchase, so they refuse to take my item back. It is a part for a hitch that I never used, because the car got totaled. Obviously they could just scan the item back in, yet they will not do so.
It's especially outrageous because the person that rang me up must have made a typo on my phone number!
I can't believe they are making me keep an item that I cannot use! I will never give them a dollar again. Hope its worth it to you Harbor Freight. You just lost business from at least 6 people.
You have proved that your customers are nothing more than a number.
Join our family oriented group Harbor Freight Junkies on Facebook I made this meme my savings today was great free wrenches
I'm going to start by saying - I probably go to Harbor Freight 20-25 times a year. Unfortunately I've learned over the years that you don't buy anything that moves whether it's wheels or motors, or anything that's adjustable. They wear or break prematurely, and without hours of fruitless searching, the odds are easily 50 to 1 that you'll ever find a bearing, wheel, or replacement for any part that wears out before the rest of the item breaks.
It's great for things like gloves, sandpaper, tarps, wrench sets, wire ties, electrical shrink tubing, and even some cleaners (car wash soap, spray brake cleaner, disposable clamps, mostly inert merchandise that is single use.
The coupons are a joke. I get regular Emails with 25% off coupons for "any" one item. They have so many exclusions, that I was only able to use the last one for a pair of gardening gloves my wife asked me to get.
I still shop there, but it's basically like a Dollar Store. Don't buy anything you want to be able to use for any length of time.
I brought up the soupçons had several items two had coupons …so I thought one was plastic funnel for two dollars the other was a set of magnetic trailer regular priceI think 34 50 coupon price 26.50 the cashier scanned coupon one funnel the I scrolled down and said here is the one for the lights she scanned it I ran my credit card next day I looks at receipt I was charge full price fo the lights so today I stopped and asked some questions The cashier reply's it states right on coupon one per day …ok my mistake I asked the manager the why did the cashier scanned the around coupon … if it wasn't valid she should had said you used your one per day but no she scant it anyway.me assuming I was getting the saving on coupon Two They could of at least said sorry this happened but she didn't I made another purchase The manager checked me out per the first cashier request she handed my receipt with no words I will continue to shop Harbor Freight but will never forget this transaction…
Bought an expensive zurich scanner which said it would perform abs bleeding. When used on my 2010 fusion, i got the message abs bleeding not supported for this vehicle. Harbor freight charged me 20 percent of the price of this tool for restocking fee because it had been opened. I feel i have been misled by the fact that abs bleeding and all makes and models both are checked for this model on the box. Support could not help me when contacted.
25% off "ANY ITEM". But wait there's more. "ANY ITEM" excludes half the store. Some one should start a class action lawsuit against them for false advertising. Just go to Northern Tool. Much better stuff and thanks to Harbor Freight jacking up all the prices, not that much more expensive.
Answer: I spent 24 minutes on the phone with them only to be told their product was perfect and problem was with my network. The person did not have a clue about what he was talking about.
Answer: I cannot see the particular part you are inquiring about, but could you make something to work? I am thinking you are referring to the notched piece that the handle locks into. Remember, you do not need to duplicate the piece, just make one that works. If you want to send me a picture I would have a better idea. I do have the smaller one which I think is similar. mountainsofwv@gmail, com Jim
