We spent $9000 on a new Trane heat pump/AC unit for our home and it stinks! Trane is considered a top unit, but it is not worth the price! It never works properly! Constantly needs servicing! It shook so hard last winter that the top bonnet cracked & Trane would not replace it, saying something must have fallen on it! There is nothing near it to fall on it! They just don't stand behind their product! My advice, if you need any heating/ac units, buy anywhere but TRANE! Cheap product for high price!

Bought a new a/c system end of 2021 one of the better units and it was expensive. There have been constant problems with "drain clogs". This is apparently a well known problem in any state with hot and humid weather, and the company is well aware of this problem. I bought this a/c unit because it was the one I had before with 15 years of no issues, the company had obviously made so changes to the system that has proven to be bad change. This problem is also not covered under warranty, so if you cannot fix it yourself, there is a $150 charge to come out and clean the system. It requires you as the customer who just spend 20K to add a drain cleaner about every 6 weeks or use a shop vac and suck out the drain. They have not responded to this problem, but keep saying they will. I do have supporting papers.

I replaced an 18 Seer, two stage compressor, variable speed fan heat pump system that was 12 years old that had a leaking "A" coil. Since my old system was 12 years old and was an 18 Seer unit I thought I would replace it and spend the extra money to go to a better and Trane's best xv20i seer heat pump system as long as I was replacing the system. I am so disatisfied with this new system and I'm very sorry I purchased it! It too has a variable speed fan but this heat pump has a variable speed compressor as well. I knew this system would run more at lower compressor and fan speeds hopefully using overall less electricity. It does run much more than my old system. The major problem with it running at such low speeds most of the time is the furthest rooms from the air handler are 4 degrees colder in the heating season than the rooms closest to the air handler. You can't speed up the fan because it is controlled by the speed of the compressor. You can reprogram the starting fan speed that is set from the factory at 30% which is their default setting to 40% or 50% starting fan speed. So it was reset to start at 50% fan speed to try and alleviate the problem of the cold rooms. It didn't make any difference in heating those furthest rooms of the house plus it put the compressor into stage 2 heating mode almost immediately which obviously takes more electricity! The compressor regulates the fan speed to its speed. So there is no "FIX" for this! I've also taken the fan control on the thermostat off of "auto" and put it on "Recirculate" which is supposed to even out the temperature in the house. It too didn't help! When there is a heavy demand for heat (which is seldom) and the compressor goes to 100% and the fan does as well those furthest rooms are very close to the temperature of the rest of the rooms in the house. This was close to a $15,000.00 purchase that I feel I am stuck with leaving half of the house uncomfortably colder. I don't know how the air conditioning will be because I purchased this in late fall but I would assume in the summer those furthest rooms from the air handler will be warmer than the rest of the house. In hindsight I should have just replaced the "A" coil in my original unit or buy another two stage system as I had that worked fine saving several thousands of dollars!

Tip for consumers:
That these low fan speeds may sound good but not near as efficient as more of a standard heat pump systems in heating your home!

First, Trane makes a good HVAC system. But they commit fraud with their ad for 15 and 48 month 0% interest offer.

Here's how that 0% interest rate works for Trane and other companies. Trane is a sub company of Ingersoll Rand. Let's say you sign up for the 48 month program. The interest for such a purchase at this time is 6.7%. HVAC system can run from 12,000 to ******* dollars.

0% interest for four years? Of course, I'll take that.

Bottom line is you pay the interest anyway. You will find an HVAC provider who recommends Trane and they'll bid your job. But, tell them you want a cash price. They will come in, let's say around 13,000, if you buy their mid-range equipment. The interest rate will be from $867 to higher if you bought the same equipment on time with a "loan."

Now that you have your cash bid, tell them you discovered their 0% interest rate program and you want to do that. THAT'S when you get a new bid and it's higher. Why? The contractor has that interest sucked out of their billing by Trane, so now they will try to suck it out of you. They will RAISE your bid by the interest amount that they would have included in the first bid had they known you selected the 48 "free interest" program. In other words, there is no 0% interest rate. It's all scam and I'm beginning to think the same of 0% offers from car dealers and others who use that fraudulent offer. Get a cash price first, negotiate strongly for their dealer hold back and other funds the dealer gets back from the auto manufacturer, then tell them you're interested in their 0% program.
