How this company is still in business I really do not know. Wish I had read all of the negative reviews before booking with them. We booked a unit in Sea Place (St. Augustine FL) in early January. Yesterday, less than 48 hours before our scheduled arrival they reached out to let me know my vacation unit had experienced significant water damage. This unfortunate event is of course out of their control and not their fault. How they handle these situations IS though. We were given 3 options:
1.) Another unit roughly 30 minutes from where we were supposed to be staying at an INCREASED RATE (no offer to cover the difference, a portion of the difference, etc). I was told that none of the rental owners will accept a reduced rate. So, they would rather make ZERO dollars as opposed to a few hundred less than their normal rate for a week? Maybe some, but all of them? Hard to believe.
2.) Another unit roughly 30 minutes from where we were supposed to stay but for only 6 days instead of 7. (another bad option)
3.) Cancellation and refund (how are we supposed to find another place to stay 24 hours prior to our scheduled arrival?)
It is evident that not much effort is put into resolving unexpected issues that arise. Really poor customer service. You can do better with other rental agencies. I would note that this is the first review I have ever written online but hope to keep others from making the same mistake I did by booking through Vtrips.
