I have been buying Uniwigs toppers for years, as I have alopecia. Initially I was fairly happy with the product and still have some of my older pieces that are in relatively good shape. However, in the last few years I have noticed that the prices have been gone way up, and the quality has plummeted. For example, the last few Clair toppers that I bought were very sparse in the back, and shedded constantly to the point where there was not much hair left in the back and what little hair there was broke off like dry straw. These last 2 toppers barely lasted 6 months! The quality is absolutely terrible! So, after 10 years, I have decided to no longer purchase toppers from this company, and strongly advise others to stay away from Uniwigs.

Our team consistently reviews and adjusts our pricing structure to reflect the quality, craftsmanship, and cost of materials used in our products. While we always strive to maintain affordable prices the cost of raw materials has increased dramatically in recent years.

When we originally constructed the Claire this piece was designed with an average 130% density offering moderate coverage. Over time, as we increased our product line and made adjustments based on customer feedback, we did adjust the Claire construction. This piece is now designed as a lightweight piece, 120% density, ideal for customers in the beginning stages of hair loss. The Claire provides great coverage in front and on top. It is expected to be thinner in the back as this piece is intended to offer coverage for the early stages of hairloss which generally begins along the front hairline and the parting line at the crown. Hopefully this helps you better understand the difference between your early pieces and more recent purchases.
