Thought I was booking direct with a hotel, but they were working with reservations.com.
I literally typoed the date.
There was no way to tell that the booking was not changeable or refundable until I tried to change it less than 2 hours after making it.
If I could give 0 stars, I would. They charge $14.95 and won't change a booking that was made ten months in advance. I have never been treated like this before. I'm talking to the hotel and will be trying to convince them to change services. I love that hotel, but may not book with them again until/unless they do, and will certainly be biased against hotels I find using them to provide their booking services in the future.
I travel enough to know that this isn't standard practice and I already know it's not the hotel's policy. In fact, at least their receptionist didn't even know reservations.com was doing this to their customers. They aren't just ripping off customers.
They're ripping off hotels, by offering a service and then treating those who use it so terribly they won't come back.
