FREE SAMPLES!

No surveys and direct links to the free sample sites!

Some of the samples are worth requesting, some are free sign ups for trip giveaways (probably just to get your info.)

I gave this a 4, instead of 5, because a few of the links to free samples aren't complete.

  • Julep

4/19/14

The first time you use the site, you can get a trial version for 4.99 (free+shipping.)
Use code FREEBOX.
I like that you can answer questions about your preferences and the selection is somewhat personalized, however, you may get a shipment of things you do not want or need.
In one box, I received two small nail polish colors, a nail buff that is about 1 x 2inches and a cuticle serum. Meh. If I were to go to the store, I would have bought one of the polishes.
If you like a lot of extra items and want a shipment to come monthly, this is the site for you. If you don't like a lot of clutter and want to pick items based on what you would use, you may want to avoid this service.

The customer service line receives 5 stars. Quick answer, very friendly and easy to use prompts.

  • Gilt

3/16/12

Out of all of the flash sale websites, gilt is my favorite. I have probably ordered more than 10 times in the last 6 months and have been very pleased. They typically have better brands than ruelala, ideeli, etc. Also, shipping is very fast (less than a week to deliver.) Once, I received a
Item that was damaged, but final sale, and gilt took the item back and quickly refunded my money. Some recent sales: AG jeans, marc by marc jacobs, red valentino, theory. Tip: log in immediately wheTyn the sale starts. It gets picked over quivkly. If you would like me to refer you, just message me.

  • Sun & Ski

9/11/11

Sun and ski sports is a great store that sells sporting goods. I gave the website 4/5 stars because sometimes the website runs slow when I'm searching for items. I love the wesite because I find great deals on brands like: Under Armour, Spyder, North Face, Moving Comfort and more. Compared to REI and $#*!'s sporting goods, I find a larger selection of sporting apparel at Sun and Ski. For equipment, I think it depends on the location.

Also, Sun and Ski runs a lot of coupon specials to add to your great deal! Check out retailmenot.com for coupon codes.

  • CraigFrames

9/11/11

I bought a 24"x36" frame from craig frames. I found them on Amazon, but you can buy directly from their site. The price was very reasonable and I find the frame to be pretty good quality considering the price point. It's solid wood and in great condition.

Something that people may not like is the fastners that hold the poster/picture and backing in are the little tabs that you push, so that can hurt your fingers and the backing is cardboard.

When I got the frame I thought that there was a large scratch on the front of the styrene cover. I emailed craig frames and got a response within hours. Turns out, I didn't peel both protective covers off- it is on both sides. I am impressed with how fast they respond to questions. Should I need another frame, I will definatley check them out again.

  • Forever New

9/11/11

Forever new is a fantastic wash for your delicates. I use it in my washing machine; throw in a mesh bag and a little forever new. However, a friend told me she hand washes everything with forever new. Either way seems to work. I am impressed with how new my things still look!

I heard that the stain remover is not worth getting, so I have never used it.

Typical price is $15 for 32 oz + shipping or you can use the website to find locations to buy it at a store.

  • Tripadvisor

9/11/11

I love using tripadvisor.com! Before we go on a trip, we can look at reviews of hotels, restaurants, things to do, places to park, etc. I feel like we have visited some really great finds in cities we visit because of this website.

Additionally, sometimes people post what price and star level they picked on priceline when booking their hotel. This helps you get the best deal at a high quality hotel.

  • SmartyPig

8/28/11

Smarty pig is like an online piggy bank. You can feel that your money is safe because it's FDIC insured. You can set savings goals and earn 1.1% APY on savings up to $50k- pretty good for a savings account. There is also a savings calculator so you can see what you need to set aside each month for whatever you are saving for. When you take out your money, you can earn extra money by putting your savings on gift cards with affiliated business. Additionally, you can earn money quicker by using a smarty pig reward card.

  • HBO Go

8/28/11

I travel a lot. HBOGO.com allows me to watch all the current hbo shows, plus many of their shows that are off air now: ROME, Band of Brothers, Carnivale, Big Love, Mildred Pierce, etc. You can also watch a lot of movies. All you do is login with your tv service provider information.

This is free if you subscribe to HBO.

  • Freeflys

8/28/11

There are four main tabs on the website: sign up, samples, coupons, and blog.

You don't have to sign up to look at the other tabs.

Samples: Yay, free stuff

Coupons: grocery and pharmaceutical

Blog: self explainatary

There website is easy to maneuver. I also like free samples. A win win for me.

  • CouponMom

8/28/11

I am a big fan of retailmenot.com for online coupon codes. Think of couponmom (you don't actually have to be a mom) as a retailmenot for coupons. You can search for coupons to print, to use online or use the freebies option to get free samples. I gave the website 4/5 stars because it seems a little cluttered, but the content seems worth checking out!

  • Intellus

8/6/11

I'm sure that most people know this. But in case you missed the bus with me, intellus is a website that shares your personal info to anyone. Information including: phone numbers, social security number, address history, email, ages, birthdates, household members, etc.

If you are a weirdo stalker, this is the website for you.

The good news is you can pay them to hide YOUR info. How nice of them. If you would not like to pay them, I listed below how you remove your personal info from creepos and marketers.

From their privacy policy website:
How can I remove my information from the Intelius public records databases?
Public records are available from the official public records custodian or repository to anyone who requests them. In order for any database of public records to be useful, the databases must contain all of the information in the public records offices. Our data files must accurately reflect the underlying public records, and we do not remove or suppress any information that is both accurate and publicly available. There are exceptions to this rule, as a courtesy we allow law enforcement, certain government officials or employees, and individuals with court protection orders the option to opt out their information.

If you have a compelling privacy or security issue, you may wish to contact the official custodians of those public records that contain sensitive information about you, such as your county's land records office, to determine how to remove your information from the public record. (The process of having public records sealed typically requires a court order.) This process will ensure that the information is not available to the public, to Intelius, or to any other public records information provider.

As a courtesy we can 'opt out' your specific information from the Intelius People Search service. What this means is that your name as it appears in a particular record and the associated identifying information such as your address and phone number will be suppressed if you request this in the manner described below. However, please note that any time your identifying information appears in a public record in a manner which is different from the record you opted out, it will again appear in our system. (For example, if your address or area code changes your new information will again appear unless you opt out the new record.) There also are many other public records search services which are not owned by Intelius and your request that we opt out your information will not prevent your information from appearing on these other services.

In order for Intelius to "opt out" your public information from being viewable on the Intelius website, we need to verify your identity and require faxed proof of identity. Proof of identity can be a state issued ID card or driver's license. If you are faxing a copy of your driver's license, we require that you cross out the photo and the driver's license number. We only need to see the name, address and date of birth. Please fax to *******194 and allow 4 to 6 weeks to process your request.

Each individual that wishes to be opted out of Intelius must be accompanied by proof of identity and address. We will only be processing opt out requests we receive by fax and no request will be processed without complete information. Requests for opt out will not be processed over the phone or via email.

I found this website while looking for information about working as an extra. Although you can browse for free casting calls, there is not a convenient way to search for types (model, extra, etc) and expired events are also listed.

I ended up receiving several calls to sign up (and pay) for representation. They have different plans for different levels. One of the plans comes with business cards. (bonus?) I can not figure out how a business card would help me get work as an extra.

If you are looking to browse jobs, it seems like a descent place to look. As far as an advocate for your job search, I'd look elsewhere.

  • Steamboat

7/25/11

This website is supposed to be a comprehensive website to book all of your travel to Steamboat Springs, Co. It is a great search engine, but if you want to enhance your ski or snowboard trip planning, use the website to search properties, but contact the location directly to get more picutres and floor plans. The rates are the same, so it is ok to book on steamboat.com.

Edgemont, Bear Claw and Ptarmagin Inn are great locations (ski in/ ski out right off the main gondola.) I'm sure there are other great ski in/ ski out's, but these are the ones I remember.

Last year there were a large variety of places to rent skis/boards from. This year they cut down the amount of vendors and this reduced the competitive pricing. I am going to contact straight to you directly. We have used them in the past and they were very professional and attentive. You get a 10% off discount if you book a week or more in advance.

As far as ski lessons, this is the only place to get an instructor. Some kind of code or law prohibits ski/board lessons by others who are not employed by Steamboat. Probably a liability issue.

The buses in Steamboat are free and easy to use. Look for the blue bus.

  • Jane Iredale

7/25/11

Jane Iredale Makeup

The pressed powder has fantastic coverage. I have medium colored sun spots and red cheeks from a skin condition. Jane Iredale pressed powder completely covers up the discoloration. I even receive compliments on how nice my skin is. Really, it's just the coverage. I do not have acne scarring, so I don't know how well this make up covers that.

I like the liquid foundation, but found that I only use it around my eyes because the pressed powder has such great coverage.

There is a eye circle coverup: circle/delete that works wonders as well! If my eye circles are darker, I use this instead of the liquid foundation.

The blush and eye shadows: Very light and great variety of colors. I prefer the pressed eye shadow. I do not care for the liquid eye shadow because it is difficult for me to control the application and difficult to put eye liner on top off. The blush tends to stay on all day, eye shadow needs a touch up after lunch. MAC and Lancome eye shadows seems to stay on longer.

I haven't found an eye liner or mascara that is as dark as I would like. I prefer dark mascara that is thickening and lengthening (I have short, short eye lashes.)

Overall, I think Jane Iredale make up has fantastic coverage, is light and does not cause pore clogging. Many places that sell Jane Iredale (I've seen it at many doctors offices) will let you try some on before buying. There is also a starter kit that comes with 3 different brushes to help you get started.

  • BloomSpot

7/25/11

Bloomspot.com is just like groupon, mydailydeals, and living social. One tip, to find deals that you bought, click on my account and scroll down to my offers. The deal you bought will be light blue, click on that link to bring your deal.

I've been very happy with bloomspot. The deals seem to have reasonable expirations too!.

  • RueLaLa

7/25/11

I have made 4 purchases from Ruelala and have had fast shipping, correct orders and find the website to be credible. I don't like paying for the shipping, but they lump your whole order into one. Once you pay shipping for one item, it will cover the rest of the items that you buy that day.

  • Groupon

7/25/11

I ordered a dress from ideeli and received the package very quickly. However, it was someone else's order! I sent an email describing what I ordered along with the order number, as well as the other person's information. I received an email back from ideeli's customer service saying that my original message to them was "scrambled" and if they did not have a response in 24 hours from me, they would close the issue. I did email back, and they have not responded in their own 24 hour time frame.

1. it is their mistake
2. What if I did not check my email for 24 hours b/c it was the weekend?
3. why is there not a phone number listed on their website?
4. WTF

Absolutely loved the product and especially the smoky taupe shimmer colour but very disappointed...
