I had been counting macros for a while, but could tell I wasn't at the right amounts. I found this site and they boasted a blueprint where an "expert" uses your responses to a pretty long questionnaire and they calculate your macros for you. You get a long PDF that gives pretty basic explanations of each macro and how to adjust your macros. You're assured that if you follow this plan you will lose weight. Yea, that's not true. They are high carb, which is not something that everyone can do (including me). They try to quell any panic that you'll get from ballooning the first few weeks by saying that is normal. Again, no it isn't. They put me at 225 carbs almost double what I normally eat. Following this plan, I gained an additional 10-15 pounds and that's with their suggested adjustments.
When you buy a blueprint you are given access to a client-only page. You see all these people with great results and think that maybe weight loss is possible and think maybe there is something wrong with you. I thought this until September 19,2018. I saw a post from another member asking for help because they had followed the blueprint and kept gaining weight. Many other members had commented they had experienced the same thing and were dissatisfied. Some even said they essentially had to go back to what they were doing before IIFYM and some suggested outside resources. I posted that I was struggling as well. Enter Anthony Collova, Founder and CEO of IIFYM.com.
He responded to each person in the most rude manner possible. He essentially said that if we hadn't lost weight, then it was our fault. I said that I understand that he wants to defend his product, but he should acknowledge that their route of high carbs does not work for everyone. He went so far as to put my personal and confidential stats into the group saying that if I had followed the blueprint, I would have gotten to my goal weight by now. I have never seen a business owner be so rude to their customers. To make it even better, he deleted the entire thread and it is no longer accessible. He even kicked out some of the people that commented on the thread. Thankfully I took screen shots so you can see for yourself how rude he is.
Stay far away and do not buy a blueprint. At the most, just use their free calculator or search on YouTube (or anywhere really) on how to calculate your own macros. Anthony had no customer service skills and has a product that doesn't deliver for many despite what he says. He claims he's an expert, but I've gone to my doctor, trainer, and nutritionist who have all said that the macros I got were outrageous.
