**This is written on the day of the scheduled pickup date for my order. At the time of writing, I do not have my item in possession.
After reading reviews on mini fridges by NYT, I tried to place an order on Home Depot's website for a Magic Chef Retro 3.1 cu. Ft Mini Fridge that was $100 off. The promotion was only available for ship-to-store/in-store orders. MYSTERIOUSLY, EVERY store (I tried every store within 40 miles) showed the $100 promo EXCEPT the one that was 1 mile from my house.
After contacting Home Depot, I was told it was probably just a store credit card promotion—it was NOT.
I placed a ship-to-store order for pickup at a store 11 miles away, with the promotion (for $179 plus tax). The scheduled pickup date was June 29.
I contacted Home Depot the second time via text (their preferred method) asking if somehow the price discrepancy was a glitch in their system. I was told that their IT would be notified.
On the day of pickup, I had to add a different person to pick up the fridge, so I called Home Depot's customer service. After that was done, I asked about the weird price differences since the store nearest to me was "singled out" and "excluded" from the promotion. I was assured that it was NOT a glitch but simply how Hone Depot runs its promotions. Therefore, there was no need to "look into it."
At 4 pm of the pickup day (now), the order still showed the same schedule even though it was still not delivered to the store. I really needed the fridge to be delivered by the date they promised, so guess what, I called the store, my FORTH contact with Home Depot customer services.
The store employee told me the order had not been delivered to the store yet. Even if it was delivered today, I would likely not be able to pick it up until the next day or the day after. If that was the case, why was the scheduled pickup date remained the same on my account page?
I have never had an experience like this—the pickup date a store quoted me could mean two days after the quoted date. What?
I will not buy from Home Depot again.
