I made an online order through saveonfoods.com, for delivery on June 27th. On the 26th, my account was charged $183.08.

As of 10pm on June 28th not only have I received no order, but also no reply from save-on-foods, and no refund.

Update. After a complaint to my bank, and this review, they are offering a refund. Their explanation is that the delivery driver could not reach me by door buzzer or phone. (Both work fine).

Tip for consumers:
Saveonfoods has not issued a refund as requested, nor have they replied back to my inquiries.
Update: Refund was issued after this review was posted.

Products used:
None, did not receive grocery order.

I have a decent, fairly cheap deal as far as it goes that I'm happy with. Plans are better than a lot that other providers have. I like that they just throttle you back if you go over on data instead of swiping your life savings. You won't get surprize bills.

Customer service seems a bit lacking on the website end. Staff in City Center Mall Edmonton were helpful and friendly setting up my phone. Otherwise so far I've had no interaction with them.

I've been a customer for 10 months, paid on time and not eligible to upgrade my plan. Bit of a downer.

Online bill payment is no fuss. I've had no problems.

Website can be extremely slow to load if your internet is slow, to the point of being unusable.

Overall: consider Freedom but shop around for the best deal you can get.

Tip for consumers:
Decent plans and prices but shop around.

I placed an order totalling $320, that was shipped to my old address. Support informed me that despite the fact that I contacted them to change the shipping address, I could not be refunded, as the old address was still on file. I'm now out $320 and my next months worth of food. Also, between placing the order (for $240) and billing, the prices all jumped a total of $100. Because of this, I'm now going to the food bank.

EDIT:
An hour after I posted this review, Inabuggy retrieved my groceries and issued a refund for the item partially eaten. I may change this review to something more positive in the future after one more order attempt.

Tip for consumers:
Go directly to store and order from them instead of using this service.

Hello Shawn and the Sitejabber community. We take great pride in our services and Customer Support department. The technology we have built allows consumers across Canada to easily shop for necessities, have them delivered, as well as manage their account, change their delivery address and etc.

Shawn, we have walked you though the steps to change your delivery address. At which point you didn't, which is why the groceries were delivered to your old address. In addition - we have refunded this order, and worked with you based on our response standards.

Please note, that the following language and verbal abuse you've sent to our employees will not be tolerated:
July 22 from Shawn Nerenberg: "All these f* emails are ABOUT checking the f* address I could not change on the f* website! F* you!"

We look after all our customers diligently, while at the same time protecting integrity of our business - specifically our employees from such behaviour used to intimidate, insult or humiliate.

Overall I like shopping with memory Express but i do not recommend purchasing online. The website is really good for general browsing and pre-planning a purchase but there have been issues with online ordering and getting refunds. I had to demand one from the store manager for a PC damaged in shipment. The refund was only given because there were quite a few customers who were listening.

Despite that rotten experience, I find the products are good and stock is varied if a bit pricey. If you are building your own, I'd recommend Tiger Direct or Amazon.ca for better prices.

In store staff and customer support are excellent and knowledgeable. Any work I had done in store was completed quickly. The store itself has a good selection of products. Overall, they are better than the other alternatives I know about in Edmonton.

This company needs a major management overhaul, and a new support staff. They make Steam look good where it comes to customer support. I've used a few clients, like Steam, Origin, even Bethesda; all have some level of support, that Epic entirely lacks, and no account support. I figure they really don't want my money. Fine.

  • Daz3D

I've used Daz Studio for quite a few years and while I do like it for a lot of it's features, it could do with a LOT of improvement. Specifically, it is not free. If you intend to do anything meaningful with it, you will need to pay. If you want content, you will pay. It does not export to or play well with other software packages easily like it's rival Poser does. It is a resource hog that will quickly chew up CPU and ram. Cararra (another Daz3D product that has been abandoned) had an option to limit how many cpu cores were accessed by the program. There is no such option with Daz. Likewise, there is no option for rendering at higher DPI if you want a render for print. There is NO manual, and very little documentation. Daz3D is rather famous for this. Lastly, tech support is iffy at best. If a problem has an easy fix, you can expect a solution. If it cannot be resolved after an email (two at most) your ticket will be marked as solved and shut down anyway.

Content from the marketplace can look good, but very often used high density resource hogging meshes instead of normal maps. Texture maps also can be too bloated.

On a positive note, you CAN get the program for free and do some basic fiddling. If you have an Nvidia card, the Iray renderer works very well, and much faster than the entirely CPU driven 3Delight renderer. While it doesn't have all the features native to Poser Pro, it does have quite a bit of purchasable features that work fairly well. The interface is customisable and I've experienced relatively few software crashes, although it can very quickly bog down and get clunky after adding one of their HD figures.

Overall, it's not a bad program, but the support could be a lot better, and Daz3D needs to learn that manuals are actually a thing. Real software ships with those.

Months ago I ordered a t-shirt for a charity campaign that never arrived. I emailed the company (Stands International) about the delivery that tracking said had been delivered. They confirmed my address and sent me another one. Just today I recieved an email from EzClear who somehow has my old order and will happily release it to me for $16.22 can. I am sending a copy of the email to stands to let them know of this scam, and that their packages are being intercepted.

I contacted Stands and they sent me a replacement directly. It did not have to go through customs, and I was not charged extra.

Hi Shawn,
Perhaps you didn't have a look at the shipping details from the Stands International website where is indicates that your item needs to clear customs. I urge you review it again here: https://international.shopstands.com/pages/about-us. Here is a cut and paste from that page:

Our distribution centers are located in the US and the UK, so some items will need time to clear customs depending on your location (we’re looking at you, Brazil and Australia), but we promise, it will get there.

Please note that these international parcels are consigned to us by the company that picks up at the Stand fulfillment center as part of the overall process. Unfortunately, goods that exceed $20CAD are subject to Duty and Provincial Sales Tax. Let us know if you have any questions!
