Fabulous website with a wealth of information. I've been training and showing dogs for nearly 3 decades and I found the breed reviews on this site to be dead-bang accurate. Same with her training and health information, makes complete sense.

As for her assesment of purebred dogs and conformation shows, even though I breed and show dogs myself, I have to admit she's right. Purebred dogs are terribly inbred and it's worse because of the policies of the AKC and breed clubs who are so paranoid about genetic purity they don't even know or care how much damage they're doing to dog's health.

You should sit on the club committees like I have, and listen to this obsession with appearance, and narrowing the gene pool by breeding the same champions over and over, and breeding unhealthy shapes like smashed faces and crooked legs or wrinkley skin. Breeders and breed clubs are doing a disservice to purebred dogs today and I applaud this author for speaking up about it. An excellent, thought provoking website.
