  • Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd.

11/19/22

I was pleased to fly every year between Adelaide and Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific. Nice airport with good shops and international cuisines. Then the Adelaide flights tailed off with repeated cancellations ( 7-8). In early 2022 I booked again Adelaide to Hong Kong against booking tab 5AEWZD and purchased a seat reservation for AUD 81.00 Within 10 days the flight had been cancelled. I awaited the refund from the cancellation in vain. Managed Bookings was no help. Didn't recognise my booking stub. Ive made repeated attempts to contact the reservations team, All the Cathay Pacific calling numbers in Australia have vanished as have those in London which utilised the 0800 freecall. Must now dial 852 Hong Kong direct Three numbers are quoted in several contact-us blurbs. My experience has been that none of those direct dial Hong Kong numbers will take you to Cathay Pacific from overseas. +852 2747 3333/ +852 2747 2747/ +852 2233 3000. Don't waste your time. On arriving on the website you will be instructed to load Whattsapp onto your mobile and use it to read a scattercode on the screen. First step a robot. I've never passed the robot. I refused to give Whatssapp access to my " contacts " with the carte blanche permissions it seemed to require. Contact = Cathay Pacific was not an option. I am really concerned by Cathay's ability to lose booking chars less than a year after their issue. Hardly backs up their claims to security. A sad tale.

I have a photo of purchase of the seat reservation but cannot get it to upload into the Jabber area. From camera to Jabber how ????

  • Malwarebytes

2/16/18

I had to uninstall Malwarebytes today when I needed to perform a System Restore on Windows 7 on my laptop. I needed to roll-back because Malwarebytes after freezing when asked to perform a scan now does not respond at all. Support at Malwarebytes issued me a ticket number SIX DAYS ago and I've since heard nothing more from them, in spite of telling them I could not carry out any scans. I managed to perform System Restore today after uninstalling Malwarebytes. The Restore Point files from earlier date are showing Malwarebytes as an installed program but, when I requested Uninstall, my computer system told me that Anti-Malware/unins000 is MISSING. I can't even clear the corpse off my computer. DON'T PAY FOR UPGRADES OF THIS SOFTWARE -- IT IS NOW VULNERABLE TO CORRUPTION BY SOPHISTICATED ATTACKERS. It appears to me that the support team of the company is currently at sea unable to bring about a resolution of the problem.

  • HSBC UK

All within last 12 months:
Payments to airline direct booking site withheld BY HSBC twice in 24hr period when funds were available in account. Complaint to bank lead to a denial of any block in place but airline records confirmed that the bank had in fact withheld payment twice.
HSBC has an online Chat service that should permit speedy resolution of any difficulty using the bank's website. The Chat logo onscreen does not guarantee the service is in operation.
Setting up new payees is supported by the bank's mini security device generating a one-time code which has to be entered onscreen. The code may be rejected without explanation when you type it in onscreen and, if the Chat service happens to be 'resting', there is no way to set up the payee without a telephone call and multiple security questions. A long delay if one needs to make a fast payment.

  • Amazon

I have bought DVDs and books from Amazon for many years. Ordering and delivery updates impeccable. Never any uncertainty. And they could turn up sources for out-of-print books and rather obscure foreign-language DVDs. But lately I have run into dead-ends on some items, particularly on the number of outside suppliers from which to choose the best version of a title. They are often forgetting to mention if an English language DVD has subtitles (required to follow some plots and nerdy dialogues). It's just a bit harder to collect the vital statistics for a prospective purchase regarding publication data, abridgement, photos, translators. The things which make one edition of a book better than another. I could approach suppliers for the details but in the past I could usually get them from the Amazon descriptive entry or sometimes by looking at the book cover thumbnail. Views of other viewers and readers welcome.

  • Bravofly

Google led me to Bravofly for a low-cost ticket to fly to Coober Pedy. Print on booking form very faint, difficult to read. Took a long time to make entries. After giving card details, message said there was an error but no help to correct it. The booking timed out and when I was able to resume, the cost had increased by forty-three dollars. Payment failed again, no explanation. Made final attempt, cost now over thirty dollars more than previous quote. Had trouble exiting website back to Google, was dumped on hotels page with no back/home exit buttons and the site address could not be deleted. Time stolen from me -- over 2 hours.
