I chose to buy from MPS because they sold charts that were cheaper by about a dollar and because they offered free shipping for certain items. I decided to get a current and next edition Philadelphia TAC for $10.60 total, and because I bought the current edition I got free shipping on my whole order. It did NOT say that there was a minimum price for free shipping, just that adding one of a selection of items would get me free shipping.

I checked my order status the next day and part of my order was listed as shipped, but there was an added $1.00 shipping fee added. This was AFTER I had approved the $10.60 purchase, and my new invoice listed $11.60. This made me especially mad, since I paid using a prepaid card that I had only loaded with $11 especially for the purchase, so if I hadn't checked my invoice and the purchase had posted I would have gotten an overdraw fee.

I contacted customer service, and ONLY THEN was I told that the next edition chart was out of stock, and that I was being charged because my new total was under $6.

There are a few problems with this:

1. I was never told that there was a $6 minimum for free shipping on their website, only that adding an item from a list of items would make shipping free, and when I originally had just the promo item in my cart (a total of $5.30) I was told I would be given free shipping.

2. I was NEVER NOTIFIED about the extra charge or about the item being out of stock before calling customer service, no email or phone call, it just quietly changed. Increasing the net price of the order is extremely unprofessional and not the way a respectable business operates. Even now the item is still listed as in stock on their website, so others can still fall for the same ruse today (April 2nd, 2018).

3. The bottom line, even barring the other two issues, is that I AM PAYING for THEIR MISTAKE. I made an order and authorized a charge, and because they made a mistake in listing an item as "in stock" when it wasn't they decided to charge me a higher price with no notification. My invoice also still lists the out of stock item as "pending", implying I will eventually be charged for the second chart once it's in stock, along with the first chart and extra shipping fee.

I don't care about the extra dollar, it puts it on par with other chart distributors. What I care about is that they used deceptive practices to draw in business, and their shoddy infrastructure makes it hard to spot. MyPilotStore has proven that they are not trustworthy, and I won't be shopping with them ever again. There are plenty of other chart suppliers out there that I would rather give my business to.

If for whatever reason you still want to buy from these guys, one chart from my order has arrived and it was in fine shape, no defects.
