I wish I could say good things about our LZ1 but I can't.
We have owned it for 4 years and have spent 3timrs as much have time fighting with it as sewing with it. I've sewen for over 55 years and this is the most frustrating machine I have ever used hands down. Sailrite support is of little help.they tell you to take a few pictures and then tell you to watch their videos. Iv watched them multiple times making over 100 separate adjustments over the years and nothing gets better. Iv even put the needle on backwards twice and it sews about as well that way.
This review if from a person that really wants and needs this machine to work as we are on a sailboat and constantly have things to repair...I just dread getting this thing out anymore as I know it's going to ruin my day and stress our marriage.
Trying to sell it off a boat is not an easy task either...I'd about have to give it away and eat the 1500.00 because I'd be honest about how crappy it sews.
Sailrite should do the right thing and replace this lemon at their hipping expense.because if others are not having these issues then there defintly something wrong with this one.
I sure do wish I had bought a different walking foot brand.
Sailrite has great how too videos and other products.but I'd stear clear of their sewing machines. Sailrite cloned a Thompson machine and I wish I had one of those old machines instead.
It's gotten to the point that if we have sail repairs to make we wait till we can rent a hotel for a couple days just because we know we are going to be totally frustrated and we need the AC and abundant shower water AND access to a good bar and resturant to not kill each other fighting this dang thing.
