“Pricey But Worth It”

Nancy K.
8/11/20

I have been renting cars from this particular place on Greenville Blvd in Greenville, NC since 2016. This enterprise car rental at this location has young individuals working there with the most respectful personalities. They are filled with life and energy as well. They are so lovely to spend time with while waiting. They use their face masks and they make sure everything is right for you before you leave the area. I always got the most respect and clean cars. I am a plus customer means nothing just that I can get an upgraded vehicle paying the same price as standard. For beginners, you will have to put down $200 for deposit and pay the rental price. Regardless a $200.00 down deposit is necessary. It was not like that back in 2016, that is why I kept renting from them but some human messed that all up when they had an accident with one of their vehicles and didn't want to pay for the damages afterward, so now a $200.00 down deposit is a must when renting from them. Other than that, I always have no issues with my cars or any incidents with the staff members. Also, you must use a card with your name on it. You can not use another person's card to pay for the rentals. All cards must be in your name only. For instance, you can not put the rental in your name and then pay for it in someone's else name, it must be your name on the card. All the vehicles are up to date too. I had no bad issues with them at all or not yet. Most importantly, you do get all of your deposit refunded after you return the vehicle back. Always keep the fuel level at the same point you got the vehicle, for example, if you got the vehicle and the gas tank is full, you must bring it back on a full tank as well or they will take it out of your deposit.

“Gave me a dirty car”

I had to wait 8 hours after they took my money before I could receive the car. 8 hours I missed my flight and everything. I called the company like what is going on the staff was rude and short after they took almost $500 from me for 2 days. Saying we have to charge you for a whole weekend cause no one works on sunday even though there was a staff person there when I dropped off the car. The staff at the airport was upset cause the car was dirty and I told them I have pictures to prove this how I got the car I put only a half a tank of gas because that's how it was giving to me. This company needs to clean house in Meridian Mississippi or retrain their staff. Horrible service

I rented a car from enterprise, I picked it up at Bordeaux Airport very early on a Saturday morning and had it all weekend. The vehicle was wet with dew when I picked it up and it was not possible to see the condition of the wind screens or the bonnet or the roof. I returned the vehicle to Geneva airport, the French side, the next day. Unfortunately French car rental stations like this one are closed for returns on Sundays. All I could do was take photos of the bodywork to show that there was no damage. Unfortunately I did not take one of the roof, but as I had been with the vehicle all weekend it never occurred to me to look there because there was no possibility of the car having been scratched in the middle of the roof when I had it. Several days later I received a note saying that there was a scratch somewhere on the roof and they were charging me €750 for a repair. I responded immediately to remind them that the vehicle's roof had been wet when I collected it, and therefore could not have seen any damage at the time. The manager said she would follow this up with the car rental manager at Bordeaux airport, but she never replied and subsequent emails to her went unanswered. What is one supposed to do? I see other comments about enterprise in France on this website, and it is clear that there is a pattern of underhand behavior here. So, be very careful if you rent cars from this company. Be prepared for unwarranted charges like this one. Or go with another company. I know I will next time.

Enterprise said they would top off the tank at $ 3.90 per gallon vs $ 4.05 for local prices. I drove 81 miles and returned with 3/4 tank. When I got the final bill I was charged $ 81.89 for fuel! I called the location where I rented the vehicle and was told that I paid for a full tank and they get to keep any gas left in it!

Picked up a car in Dayton Ohio. Traveling to Alabama. Car was filthy(inside and out) had to wait so they could clean it. Engine light goes on 2hrs in. Call roadside service. Return car in Maumee Ohio. FILTHY! Sticky stuff on dashboard, and back. Terrible smell of smoke.
Called enterprise 3days in a row and just got the run around. Perrysburg Enterprise was the worst. One employee said we should take it back to previous enterprise (drive back two hours) and get a new car there. We have been loyal customers for years but will now look for a better car rental that has better service and actually cares about their reputation and customer.

These people that work at enterprise are very Prejudice prejudice. I had a reservation and I rent all the time I went to a branch in Revare beach parkway and Everett. They do not treat the customers with respect.

I forgot to pick up my Rayben sunglasses when I returned the car. I knew I had it in the cup holder when I left it because I took it off while I was driving as it was cloudy coming into the airport area.
Returned the car and went to check in for my flight and remembered that I forgot to pick up my glasses. It was around 10mins or so I returned to ask at reception only to get a no as an answer that they couldn't find it anywhere. I couldn't check the car either because it was taken for cleaning. I was so disappointed as it was a brand new £200 black Rayben Aviators

Tip for consumers:
Don’t leave anything behind, check your car thoroughly before you give it back because it’ll be part of the company and you can’t have it back

Don't bother trying to rent a car there from them they wait till the last day to let you know in the late after noon that they don't have a car for you and your leaving at 6:00 am so now you need to call around and there's know other car rental around or open for that matter. There and hour away each from where you live employees could care less and Bruno manger or what ever he is did nothing there not to be trusted
But as you can see from these other reviews how bad they are i will post this every where on all review and in the neighborhood post so they know what to expect from a lousy car rental place that don't care about there customers they need to go away

I had an Enterprise reservation, and I needed to call to arrange a pick-up from the Amtrak station in Emeryville. That's where the nightmare began. I was on hold for the first call for over 11 minutes, and then the system disconnected my call. Second call, same deal. Third call, I was put through, and halfway through my request the incredibly bored Enterprise person said "You need to make a reservation online" and proceeded to try to hang up on me. I managed to get him to stop, and listen, but he was rather aggressively put-out at my request. I was informed that the pick-up needed to be within one mile of the Enterprise location (info that should have been in the FAQ) and he then tried to put me on hold, because other calls were more important. So I gave up.

I was pretty incandescent for a while. Enterprise wasted my time, was rude and dismissive, and their FAQ was obviously very wrong. I cancelled my booking ad went with Hertz. I'd rather walk everywhere than ever use Enterprise again, I'm informing everyone I know how terrible my experience was. I'm prepared to offer businesses a lot of leeway due to Covid, but Enterprise gets nothing from me. Annoying, rude, dismissive, inefficient.

After reading many reviews online I'm very happy that I canceled my reservation. From no available cars to downright shady behavior, Enterprise seems more like a scam than a reputable company.

Tip for consumers:
Don't use Enterprise, there are a lot of horror stories online.

TERRIBLE. Untrustworthy.

First, when searching in Canada, the prices shown on Enterprises website are in U.S. dollars, but it doesn't indicate U.S. dollars (when searching a Canadian branch of Enterprise!), so the prices shown are extremely misleading.

I searched for a vehicle on Wed, Oct 4th for the Thanksgiving Weekend (Oct 6th through 10th). I did a google search and vehicles were shown available through the Red Deer, Alberta (Canada) branch of Enterprise on ALL websites: Kayak, Expedia and Enterprise's own website. I reserved a vehicle that night for Thanksgiving Weekend. I received a confirmation email and reservation number. The next day (Thurs, Oct 5th) I confirmed by booking and checked-in online.

I then noticed a voicemail from Enterprise. They advised that even though I was able to book a vehicle and received a confirmation number, they had NO VEHICLES available until the following Friday. Not even that they did not have the class of vehicle I rented -- NO VEHICLES.

I asked to speak to a supervisor who advised that the website is controled by head office -- that was their excuse. This is not a valid excuse or even a logical reason. An organization such as Enterprise should have a website that can properly update vehicle availability for EVERY branch they operate. Throughout the last three years I have been booking rental vehicles out of Red Deer and whenever I search, Enterprise never seems to have availability. In the past their website ALWAYS showed if they had no vehicle availability. But suddenly their head office can't update their fleet properly? Give me a break. If that's the case, why would ANYONE rent from Enterprise EVER?

I also searched again today (Friday, Oct 6th) and their website STILL shows vehicles available TODAY for the entire Thanksgiving Weekend (photo attached).

[NOTE: I was able to rent a vehicle from their competitor.]

Either way, Enterprise has "shot themselves in the foot" -- either this branch just lies about vehicle availability or Enterprise is unable to properly manage a fleet that spans North America.

I will NEVER rent a vehicle through Enterprise again.

My insurance company (USAA), reserved a vehicle for me in which I had for a week. Upon my return I left my Cup Call Cup Holder in the vehicle, once I got home I called the rental office about what I had left, Josh placed me on hold and went to check on it, he came back and stated there was nothing in the vehicle, he also stated that he had asked the induvial who cleaned the vehicle and that person told him there was no such thing in the vehicle which, is a lie, why would I call up there if I had not left it? This is unacceptable and I plan to voice my disbelief with this matter, I will never rent a vehicle from Enterprise again because, of theft by a employee, very petty and will notify USAA about this theft.

I wish I could put a negative rating for this business. My elderly mother got into a minor fender bender, Insurance arranged a rental through this location, did not get the sales persons name, but a light skinned black guy assisted, he LIED (#1) to my mother, put her in a VW Passat, telling her that it was the same size as her Honda civic and charged her way more than insurance covered, made her pay the extra out of pocket even tho smaller less expensive vehicles were available and we know they were available because he LIED (#2) and told us that a Toyota Corolla or a Nissan Sentra that was available, would cost twice as much as the VW that he gave her, which had no spare tire, I guess he thought this vehicle was a good choice for a elderly woman, he then LIED (#3)to our faces again and told us that her AMEX would not cover ANY Insurance and neither would Geico in the event of minor damage to the vehicle, in an attempt to force her to buy his insurance. These people made a bad situation worse by trying to take advantage of my elderly mother in her time of distress, they will manipulate and lie and force you to pay. We returned the vehicle and booked a vehicle from another branch, quite frankly, Enterprise car rental has lost a customer all together, and based on how these gangsters operated this location on this particular morning, I will not advise anyone to rent from this company at all.
This branch has lost a long time customer due to this encounter... I am very disappointed and hurt that my mother was taken advantage of in her time of distress... goes to show that no one can be trusted... after we spoke to another branch provided by Geico, my mother was put into a Toyota Corolla that was completely covered by Geico and her AMEX was accepted to cover the additional insurance...

First and foremost I rent cars often let us start there. What is most attractive of Enterprise they pick you up and drop you off. When I call the Alhambra location every time to get a ride I am treated like I dare you ask us for a service that we do not offer. Well we only pick up in a 3 mile radius I am less than two miles from this location. I make reservations and I never can just get in and out within 15 to 25 mins. I have waited up to 45 mins. Unacceptable. Not to mention the car is not clean just some water on the outside and most times not a full tank of gas. But the reason I am writing this review is the attitude of the manager on down is terrible. I did opt out of the insurance and I did not take a car for an additional $10 a day (which the smallest car is going for $95 a day when they use to go for $45 a day.) I rented my last car on 10/7 and returned the car on 10/9. When I returned the car the acting manager (female) argued me down that I did not rent my car from that location. You would think companies would value customers more after covid shutdown. I called the corp ofc while waiting for a rental I was told I would receive a discount off of my rental I am still waiting on that credit. I spoke with the a supervisor by the name of Brenda who promised me someone would call me back and she stated she was so sorry. Well here it is October 24th no call back I am more than disappointed with company on a whole.

This company is one of many that really takes the cake. They work in conjunction with a group called Veterans advantage to reward veterans with a membership in this organization with a discount as a thank for for their service.

This once again goes to prove how actions speak louder than words. I went forward with the "discount" under the assumption I was getting a "good deal". The final quote for the rental came in, with the discount, at over 200.00 higher than the average quote from every other rental agency WITHOUT a discount.

It gets worse when I try to get assistance. In order to get someone to chat with you they will waste nearly 10 minutes of your time making go in circles with a virtual assistant. Reputable businesses give the option to ask for an agent immediately. When I finally got someone I asked why they needed my email before I could speak to someone. She responded that it is so they can pull up my reservation. I explained I didn't have a reservation so explain to me again why you need my email. (the true answer is so they can log it and then email you non stop with marketing and likely sell your information). Has nothing to do with a reservation.

When I confronted their corporate employee who responded to my complaint and said the only reason they ask for all this information which they inevitably will ask for again is simply to keep you busy for the long wait to get someone because they don't want to apropriately staff their customer service department. While you think the person you are chatting with is paying attention to you they are not. They are pulling up the next persons info and preparing for that conversation while they throw out an occasional scripted response that frequently has nothing to do with what you are trying to get resolved. The apologies, etc; all scripted and set up to drag things out so they can say things like, "give me a second while I review the previous conversation" when there was none. Or I'll look into that. They are then jumpting to another customer and playing round robin.

Enterprise and many other companies don't value their customers at all or that wouldn't be happening. When I'm spending 500.00 on a car rental and need to clarify something it shouldn't involve 2 hours of my day being wasted.

When I brought this up to their leadership they actually had the nerve to say this.

"It is true that the 100+ agents in this department and 1000+ agents in other departments juggle multiple messages, emails and calls at the same time. However, this is the most efficient way to address our customers. I have been doing this almost ten years and can honestly say this method has been the best way to handle our volume and customers, which is less than 10% of our total volume."

The most efficient way to hand our volume and customers is to waste their time and have our agents juggle multiple calls so they can't pay attention to any one person and leave people sitting waiting for resonses for up to 10 minutes at times. However she is right it is the most "efficient" way to handle their customers if the bottom line is simply doing business as cheaply as possible and prioritizing gross profit over customer service. It essentially serves the business not the customer. What would serve the customer is to have a person respond right away and help resolve the issue and direct them elsewhere if needed. That's how it used to be and nobody went out of business as a result of delivering good customer service. But the focus now is greed.

As far as the price gouging which is what it essentially was the excuse given was that rates change all the time based on the market. I am well aware of that. However every other car rental company is in the same market and as I stated not only was enterprise the most expensive with a discount, by hundreds of dollars but in a few cases their rates were double what other people were quoting. As far as I know all those other companies are still making money.

This is not an uncommon occurrence either. Veterans are taken advantage of frequently with scams like this. However the absurd rationalizations and the dismissive "we will forward your feedback" speaks volumes. This is not a company you want to do business with you claim to support veterans.

Tip for consumers:
Until people start saying no more to this horrible customer service this will continue. In addition you can't claim to support veterans while patronizing this business

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. I gave them a one star rating in this review only because zero stars was not an option. I recently rented a car from them in France and they tried to defraud me in the amount of 1,500 Euros.

My wife and I went to Europe in September. We started out in Switzerland on a river cruise which terminated in Paris. We then rented a car in Paris from Enterprise, which rental we had arranged in advance. The car rental was 315 Euros and I had to give them an authorization on my Visa credit card for a further 1,500 Euros to cover potential damage. We drove from Paris to Normandy, where we spent two days touring the beaches, and then on to Calais for another two days before taking the train to London. We left France on a Sunday and those of you who have rented cars in France may be aware that the car rental agencies in France are all closed on Sundays. Accordingly, there was nobody from Enterprise in Calais to take delivery of the car at dropoff. We knew this in advance and were advised by Enterprise that this was not a problem - we just had to leave the car in a designated area in the Calais Ferry Terminal parking lot and then put the keys in a drop box at the [closed] Enterprise office inside the terminal. This we did.

Two days later, I received an email from Enterprise advising that [a] the rental vehicle had suffered windshield damage in the form of a large crack that ran halfway up the windshield to the middle and [b] they were charging my Visa account with the additional 1,500 Euros. A couple of points here:

1. There was zero damage to the windshield or any other part of the vehicle.

2. When we dropped the car off, I took a video and several pics, which clearly showed there was no damage.

I immediately fired off an email to Enterpise, denying that there was any damage and advising them that I had photos to prove this, not to mention three witnesses [my wife and our two travelling companions] who would attest to same. I also demanded that they provide me with their own photo evidence of the damage that they were claiming. They replied that they would refer the file to their regional manager and that he would respond within 5 business days. To this day, despite numerous follow-ups, I have never heard from him.

I then called my Visa issuer from London and advised them of the situation. They told me that since I had in fact authorized the full 1,815 Euros [315 for the rental and 1,500 for the deposit] they could not simply reverse the payment; however, they advised that there is a Visa process whereby fraudulent claims such as this could be disputed. I said fine, I would call them when I returned home to Canada.

I called Visa when I got home a couple of weeks later and they opened a file. They asked for, and I sent them via email, a letter outlining the whole situation, including copies of my email correspondence with Enterprise, the rental agreement, and the photos.

After reviewing my information, Visa advised that they would initiate a dispute on my behalf. As they explained it to me, the dispute would be filed with Enterprise's Visa bank who would then invite Enterprise to respond. If Enterprise did not respond within 30 days, or did not present a reasonable case, then my money would be returned. If Enterprise did present a reasonable case, and its Visa bank agreed, the matter would go to some Visa International body for arbitration.

Happily, but not surprisingly, two weeks following the filing of the dispute by Visa [which included my photo evidence], Enterprise gave notice that they were dropping their fabricated damage claim and that my money would be returned, proof positive that their actions were an out and out scam. I now have all of my deposit money back. My Visa bank [CIBC] was fantastic in all this and I doubt I would have been able to recover my money without their support, short of initiating a lawsuit in France. No apology or any other communication from Enterprise has been forthcoming. I have always rented from Enterprise in both Canada and the U.S. but after this experience, I will never do business with them again.
